We need another running back

52 yards rushing on 20 carries for a 2.5 YPC. The running game was a problem.

1) It was only a problem because the passing game was non-existential in the 2nd half. That's on Brady.

2) The Jets are a good run-stopping team. IIRC they ranked in the top in that area, last year.

What happened to Fred Taylor? He looked OK at the start.

they seemned to quit goign to him went to jarvis green
and then came back some with frd in the 2nd half but he seemed to be a little flat after sitting on the sideline too long

They run well with tight splits. When they get spread out, they stink...

Read more: I never said we needed another back, I said the running game was a problem. And the facts show it. That we couldn't run the ball meant that we had to play pass happy cowboy quarterback and we got burnt bad. We should have been able to run better against a line without their starting NT.

Well how do we and the Ravens fix the running game, because apparently they have more of a problem than us. TEAMS DONT RUN THE BALL AGAINST REX RYAN DEFENSES! You can have a complementary running game and that we didn't have.

Mark Ingram.

Yeah, I agree he'd be a nice pick.

The previous posted said that BB fails with his RB draft picks. I cant even think of any besides Maroney and I wouldnt even consider him a failure

Not being able to run on them lets them focus on defending the pass. That's the problem. You have to have balance if you want to open things up.

They are good, but they didn't have Jenkins and if you can't get 3 yards a carry against teams with good pass defenses you're not going to go very far in the playoffs.

Law Firm will suffice if he can lower his shoulder. I'm with everyone putting the blame on Butler. He's a nickelback at best, he can't cover by the sidelines without getting penalties.

When i see BJGE 10 carries 19 yards, I'm puzzled. I thought he ran good, i saw a few 7 yard runs. He got blown up behind the line alot (its the Jets).

If Faulk is injured, curious to see what Woodhead can do.

Names....?

The RBs who are available according to the NFL.COM Website include:

LaDell Betts
Michael Bennett
Chris Brown
Rock Cartwright
Justin Fargas
Samkon Gado
Kevin Jones
Lamont Jordan
Willie Parker
Kevin Smith (RFA)
Chris Taylor
Ryan Torain

I have been thinking of this all preseason, with as good as our young TEs and Tate look, I think the only way our offense truly progresses is getting rid of Moss, Brady was always about DISTRIBUTION, 10 people catching a ball in a game was frequent. Way too much of forcing the ball to #81 it seems.

Id like to think thats why Moss isn't getting a contract.

"complementary" means you have to establish the pass first ;)

No sh!t. It also means you have to have something that can actually complement the passing game.

If Brady plays like Brady we don't need a RB. Hell we dont even need a running game at all.

When there is no ******* passing game, there is nothing to complement!!

If he wants his contract he's going to have to catch the ball a lot more consistently. Otherwise we can spend the money on upgrades elsewhere, like RB and OL. It's not who you are, it's what you do. Brady targets him because he believes he can make any catch and beat any coverage. Somehow it doesn't pan out consistently. The one handed grab here and there is exciting. It's also misleading. Moss said the INT's were a "miscommunication" and a great play by Cromartie... Then he talked about the JETS wanting it more. We're back to the determination and effort thing...Tom may have thrown the picks, but I don't think he was exhibiting lack of determination or effort or even inaccuracy in the process. He was being loyal to the most established talent at his disposal. Just like he went back to him after the bobble on the first bomb. Just like Sanchize kept going to his most talented WR despite his recent track record. That's what QB's do, because if they don't they get criticized for not trusting their talent. Especially when they can't run the ball effectively.

Which is part of the problem - if all you have is a "complementary" running game and you can't pass the ball to open it up you're screwed. If you want to build a team that can win consistently you need to be able to pound the ball as well as throw it. Otherwise you've got an imbalanced offense and a lot of losses.

We have other running backs. We need a feature running back, unfortunately.

which goes back to the whole thing abut not running against rex ryan. In the sense that we didn't run the ball well today, it was a problem but its not a surprise or something that people should look further into. To have a complementary run game against the Jets you need to open the game up through the air and eventually you will have some room to run the ball but even then, your not going to out muscle the Jets all game.
