It Is What It Is Bits from Belichick, 9/17

You mentioned that you and Rex Ryan have different public styles. Why have you found your style works for you?
“I just think it’s best if you’re yourself. I think that’s best for everybody.”

Have you ever thought about how much more entertaining it would be for us if you [had a style more like Rex Ryan’s]?
“You’re not the first guy to mention that.”

Your players say that they see a very different side of you. Why is it strategically better for you to be the way you are with the media in public?
“I just try to answer the questions that you ask. It’s nothing personal. I like most of you.”

dont understand...what kind of questions are these ? why cant two people be different ?

EDIT: got it. they are doing a Rex vs Bill press conf on sunday nfl countdown. somehow it is funny ...

"Have you ever thought about how much more entertaining it would be for us if you [had a style more like Rex Ryan’s]?"

To me that sounds like a funny question that indicates a longstanding relationship with Belichick. And given that any questions about the Jets as a team can only elicit boilerplate "We have a lot of respect for the Jets..." why not? :)

it was a funny question .seems people were laughing . but the whole line of questioning was done to 'create' for the sunday nfl countdown show to display rex vs bill press conf styles.

Re: BB presser today .

I love his answer to the last question, "I like most of you."

What he really means is "Some of you are real jerks and ask the dumbest questions"

You beat me to it. I laughed at that. Always suttle that BB! :D

Re: BB presser today .

Maybe I'm deranged, but I love BB's pressers. Lots of hidden meanings and subtle messages in there. A thinking man's press conference, if you will.

I was hoping he went Joe Pesci (Good Fellas) on them.
"Am I here to entertain you? Do I amuse you?"

That certainly wouldn't be anything short of awesome but I see Sean Payton doing that if any coach would.

Re: BB presser today .

I get a kick out of his pressers, too. I think I get more out of what he doesn't say sometimes, than what he does. He's really raised it to an art form!

I agree with that. I have to say some of the greatest comedy ever is his press conf leading up to week 17 of 2008 when the press sparred with him non-stop trying to get him to say he was rooting for the Jets and they failed.

I'd rather he went all Maximus... "Are you not entertained?" :rocker:

Re: BB presser today .

If I were a reporter I would be asking Belichick about the status of Brady's right shoulder as on the injury report - would be good for a laugh

Re: BB presser today .

I absolutely love BB! Always has an answer for everything!

Re: BB presser today .

My favorite was in 2007

After some stupid question, he told the reporter he was at the game.

The good thing is you can usually tell when he is not happy with something.

after he put brady back when cassel threw an INT vs miami.

some of them are rather dull, most of the time i enjoy them also. Friday tends to be the best day for them. He seems to go longer and have more fun with it. He always does a good job of giving out a lot of football information. I have learned about the game from watching them.

that same season after they crushed washington someone asked him about running up the score. his answer was that you try to score when you have the ball, that is the whole point of putting the offense on the field. LOL
