I heard the end of Toucher & Rich this morning and they were congratulating him on his new position. Does anyone know whats going on?

Maybe after his trip to NY one of the NY Rags approached him for a job....after all, he is a closet Jet fan isn't he?

Funny, I posted this quasi-sarcastic message in the Revis hammy thread earlier today:

Jets beat writer Albert Breer has a good homage to Revis in today's Globe:

In this corner - The Boston Globe

Lots of nice loving quotes from Jets players.

He is taking a job with the NFL Network.

I am not sure what it is, but I guess it is an Adam Schefter/Jason LaCanfora-type thing. Seems to be quite a jump for him, considering I never considered him incredibly plugged in.

Great! He can team up with Marshall Faulk!

Jeez, this guy can't stay still in one job for more than six months. He went from the MetroWest Daily News to the Dallas Morning News to The Sporting News to the Globe to the NFL Network since 2006.

I guess he intereviews well.

if he is taking an adam schefter type role then its strange because all i have seen him do with the globe with breaking news or scoops is say "albert breer has confirmed xyz with sources ". confirmed what schefter had already reported. not sure why we need his confirmation.
nfln became a little more unwatchable.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you're not uprooting your family, why not?

Too bad he doesn't write well.

At least he has stopped talking about Aaron Hernandez's report of smoking pot. And it only took him about 4 months to do it!

I fully expect this to be mentioned on NFLN, as soon as he has a big game.

I can't believe anyone would hire this guy to be a sports writer. His columns exude total apathy, to the point that he does not correct glaring grammatical and spelling mistakes, even when multiple comments point them out. On top of that, ALL of his stories are second-hand. He's the laziest professional writer I've ever seen.

It makes me sick, because there are literally thousands of journalism students in college who could do a much better job than him.

Thank goodness the nationals have again missed the boat yet again (because the region is fairly devoid of actual talent nowadays). The Globe lost it's last vestage of sports department relevance when ESPN lured Reiss away. Breer was brought in to re-establish them but he didn't. But in the process he became a darling of the old boy network whose tentacles reach far and wide and who live to launch another of their own onto the national scene because they believe it will bolster their own relevance. This will probably be a better fit for Bert, it's clearly his goal to be a national voice even though the trait he seems to display most is one they already have in spades, he's easy to impress. He became so taken with Sparano during his Dallas stay he can't be objective about Miami at all any more. I'm sure Rex has impressed him with his openness and candor...

Will be interesting to see what they try and do with him. He doesn't have the chops to contribute much of significance on his own, which is why he landed back here to begin with. But he is going to the land of spoon fed insiders...where you can get away with less insight as long as you can be fed an impressive array of insideresque breaking news.

My question...so who is doing the Sunday notes column?

Good luck to Mr. Breer.

i actually was not impressed with his 'breaking news' skills while he was here. all he did was 'confirm' news what schefter and everyone report. Even jason lacanfora on NFLN is average. Schefter is a big loss for them.

Looks like everybody here who said Breer's tour of NFL training camps made it look like he was positioning himself for a national job and not interested in the local beat were dead on.
