Want to know ... what about Danny Woohead RB/WR cut by the Jets?

Nobody yet. Early rumor was J.James from practice squad. But, since we cut Murrell and activated Ojinnaka. Some are speculating S. Crable. He won the black jersey practice award last week.

Those moves would have happened by now if that were the case.

Theres more to it....BB working a trade (for Mankins) with another team or getting Mankins signed and on the roster is my guess.

I really doubt Who replaces Maroney. Who is a baseball player. New England Patriots are a football team. Why would Belichick sign a first baseman?

Can we stop with the constant "Patriots are trading Mankins" references when the Patriots don't even have the right to trade an unsigned player? Thanks.

I don't think that activation from the Practice Squad need to be announced before Saturday. Do you think that we afriad of someone else signing James or Crable?

But, yes, I do think that Belichick is looking into other signings, trades and even Mankins before making a move. If nothing happens by Saturday, I would expect Crable to be moved to the 53 man roster.

The open question is whether Wheatley will be back. Belichick certainly must be looking at corners. We have no backups at the moment. I don't see Arrington playing anything but special teams. Sanders is already being used as a nickel or dime back along with Wilhite. I suppose that an injury would make Sanders the regular nickel with Meredith as the dime back.

When did this rule come into place? Is this one of those uncapped year rules. It clearly wasn't the rule when the Dolphins traded Wes Welker.

I fail to understand the logic.. The pats can discuss with other teams about the possibility. Of course teams know until Mankins signs, they deal can't be done. But this will not proclude a conversation..

No need for those moves to "happen by now." The more last minute those moves are, the less time the Jets have to game plan for that, if they do.

This.

It could be that they are still evaluating, or it could be that Bill has something up his sleeve.

Can I just say Mankins is an idiot? What team is holding their left guard position open hoping they can sign Mankins mid season? Unbelievable.

Hope he enjoys poking cows, or whatever he does.

Why would Belichick sign a First Baseman? I Don't know........................THIRD BASE!

OMG, there a so few here who are even old enough to get this!

I think they are waiting to see what happens...NO need to rush...If Taylor is injured a bit more..maybe James..if they want a LB they COULD resign Murrell and THAT is also what I THINK will happen sometime...they could bring Mankins in..SIGNED...but I am sure there would be an exemption of 2-3 weeks..so THAT is quite doubtful...ALSO they have 10 OL now...so??? I expect a bit of movement today..tomorrow and a decision Saturday...

Maybe somebody remembers the rule better than I. When there was a CBA, wasn't there a rule about having to keep 53 on the roster or else it impacted the practice squad and how long somebody could be kept on it????If you fell below 53 for a certain period of time, it had an effect on the practice squad but I can't remember the specifics...
I wonder if a) it is still in effect in the uncapped year and b) some of the Pats moves are in response to ti, if still in effect.
Thanks in advance,

Actually, it was, but the concept of a "sign-and-trade" (which is how the Patriots landed WWI) is certainly allowed in the NFL.

The rule is that you are allowed to have third-year players on the PS ("normally" they only have two years of eligibility) if and only if you keep the roster at 53.

Thanks. I guess the intent is to keep teams from stashing players on the PS when there is room on the 53 man roster.

BB said yesterday on a radio interview (98.5 or WEEI, forget which) that a roster move was coming this week but didn't say what it would be (not surprisingly). Now maybe BB is just talking to throw things off track, but then again, maybe he meant it and felt by not giving any further info it was secretive enough.

The trade idea is not entirely off the table, you know. The Pats can do a sign and trade if that what Mankins agrees to and if the Pats can make any signing bonuses of equitable value in the trade. My understanding is that the signing bonus goes to the cap of the team that signs the player and does not travel with the contract in any trade. Mankins for a high round draft pick plus an inexpensive player could work out well. I'd trade the mankins contract in a minute - the well is so poisoned now that the Kraft family is involved, Mankins will never be comfortable around Foxboro.

So, are you saying that Kraft is a liar?

And he said that 'my hope and intention is that I'll be a Patriot and go into the Patriots hall of fame.' And I said the same thing to him.
