To read the JI and Gangreen boards for a Patsafans is just utterly fascinating.

There are fans demanding they "open it up" and run 4 and 5 WR spreads. there are others who point out they only have 3 WRs on the roster and one is still serving a suspension for a 1/4 of the season. And another had never caught an NFL pass; he was cut today.

Broadway Joe is a literal Saint among the Jet fans and he twittered and posted and offered these bon mots as reported by Rich Cimini:

Give a legendary quarterback a Twitter account, make him upset with a poor performance by his old team, and watch out.

Joe Namath, usually the most optimistic of all Jets followers, unloaded on his beloved team during and after Monday night's ugly 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Here is a sampling of some Tweets as the game unfolded:

(9:34 p.m.) "That's disgusting. You need 10 yards for a first down and you complete a 9-yard out." (A reference to Dustin Keller stepping out of bounds before the marker on the Jets' final drive)

(9:23 p.m.) "For the Jets to win this game we're going to need a miracle!"

(8:58 p.m.) "The Jets are playing with a conservative play calling style, which falls on the shoulders of the coaches- the poor execution doesn't."

(8:49 p.m.) "The Jets abnormal amount of penalties in this game can be attributed to a disappointing lack of discipline."

Namath also ripped the Jets in Wednesday's editions of the New York Post. Among his criticism:

• "Sanchez to me is not the problem. This is not all on him. I know that he's doing everything that he's told to do -- or at least trying to do everything that he's told to do."

• "I'd like to see him open up (the offense), but what are you going to open up with?"

• On Braylon Edwards: "Can't catch the ball ... Or rarely does. He has as many drops as he does catches."

• On the possibility of engaging in a shootout Sunday with the New England Patriots: "A shootout? You gotta have something to be shooting. We haven't been shooting. We can't get in a shootout with anybody."

Namath is a desperate old man who's doing everything that he can to cling to relevance. I'd pity the guy if it wasn't so entertaining how he's screwing with Jets fans.

Maybe he's still pissed that Suzy Kolber wouldn't kiss him? :D

Why would the Jets fans want to open it up when their quareterback is a check-down quarterback?

I am enjoying the season so far on multiple fronts. Excited to see how our team progresses as we get to mid season form. Excited to watch our young kids develop. Excited and enjoying  watching the Jets implode.

Oh God let's hope it continues.

well ... we'll need them to win a few games to get maximum enjoyment.

If they lose every week it will be diminishing returns.

We need them to be on the bubble all season and losing the games in the last few minutes ... rip the heart right out of them ... it's what they are used to anyways.

Sounds like a good name for a New York/New Jersey based band.

That's cruel...but True :rocker:

it's always fun to read the "i am done" ... "I am through" threads in their forums. None of them simple either ... they write out in poetic style how every year they get their heart ripped right out ....

I think I will use this  in every Jet thread I post in.

what we need is a smiley eating green popcorn.

THAT'S the delicious part.

Just look at the Pats youth. Look at the depth. Look at how stacked the freaking PRACTICE SQUAD is fer crying out loud! Look at what we have to look forward to in the 2011 draft with two 1sts and two 2nds. The Pats have stacked the deck for the next 5-7 years.

Now look at the "all-in for this year" Jets. Desperate teams are much more fun to watch after bragging and boasting. They are so stupid and undisciplined. They had 6 months of offseason to prepare for that egg they laid on Monday night - - the dog ate their homework? How could any halfway intelligent being set oneself up so badly for a fiery crash is beyond me.

As long as there's gin and as long as there tonic, lovable Joe will be the life of the party.
Not to be technical, but it's historically been Johnny Walker Black Scotch and water for Joe, although my guess is, in its absence, it's "any port in a storm..."
