Hey there Logan, this is your conscience speaking. How's that paycheck coming? You glad you turned down $7M a year, and then called the owner a liar?

Oh, and one more thing, how did you like the 5.5 Yards per carry for the lead runner this week, to go along with ZERO sacks on the QB? Still think the team misses you?

Anyway, you take care.

Sincerely,
Your Conscience

I have no idea how you can be mad at Mankins as a fan. He is playing a game where if he gets hurt and can't play anymore he won't get money from his contract.

Kraft told him one thing then didn't follow through. Don't be such a homer that you get upset with a player in this situation.

His conscience is just fine because he is doing what he believes is right.

To be fair the Bengals d line isn't very good. If the Pats line can do it again against the Jets then maybe Mankins isn't needed, as of now I'd love him back on this team.

Just how do you know that Kraft told him "one thing then didn't follow through." Were you there?

Cinci had 34 sacks last year, which isn't great but good!

Meh... mankins is a solid player and a stand up guy. pissing on him when he is down is a little harsh.

And let's not overreact to one good game up front. It's nice, but it doesnt mean much in the grand scheme of things.

Calling a guy who can walk away from a $55M deal "down" is absolutely absurd.

I would love to have Mankins back on the team, also. But, Mainefan has a point. How do you know what went on between Kraft and Mankins? Except for the comments from Kraft yesterday that didn't really shed a whole lot of light on the matter, everything else is just hearsay and speculation. Do you have some first hand information that you would like to shed on this or are you just offering more of the same "Kraft is wrong"/Mankins is wrong" drivel?

Aside from the fact that this thread belongs in the PS, Kraft never told him one damn thing...

We don't know what happened between Kraft and Mankins either way. I have no idea who is wrong, and without any facts I can not agree with talking trash about Mankins. Similarly if someone was bashing Kraft for his treatment of Mankins I could not agree with that either. We just don't know enough to form a solid opinion either way.

The Bengals d tackles are bad, their ends are good. Which is why the sack numbers were decent.

You know what went on because Mankins has said several times that none of the negotiations are with Kraft. Hes nto the guy who handles player contracts.

The Bengals dline was good enough to rank them ~4th in the league among all defenses. Geathers, Peko, and Odom are solid players.

Yea, I agree that he has been a stand up guy during his time with the Pats and I'm not getting all the hate coming his way from people who insist that the Patriots can do no wrong as an organization.

The other day when I re-read his initial comments about how the Pats kept telling him they would deal with his contract in the un-capped year, only to come back to Foxboro and hear them sing a different tune, and about "being a man of your word" blah blah blah, it sounded completely believable that things in fact went down as he described it.

The fact that (or his agent) chose to air all this out in the press was unfortunate and probably stupid, but is a separate issue from whether or not the Pats dealt with him in good faith or not.

I don't understand all these contrarians sticking up for this moron. What about Randy or Tom, who showed up to camp, busted their ass, and are playing football right now. Those two guys are exponentially more important the team than Logan mankins... And they're holding up their end of the bargain. Logan Mankins can go somewhere else to take up excessive cap room and miss the playoffs. We don't need guys like him here.

Ranking defenses by total yards is like ranking Pitchers by Wins: an exercise in idiocy.

The Patriots gave up 400 yards passing sunday. Do you really think they were one of the worst defenses in the NFL this weekend?

These two guys also make more money this year than Logan has in his entire career. Hes risking a whole lot more than they are.

All of what you say is true. However, don't take it out on me. I didn't post that. It was his conscience. Either that or one of the many voices in my head. :)

Who passed for the other 55 yards???

Very well said. I keep hearing what a stand up guy he is, and so far all I know is he appologized for calling Kraft a liar. To some, that makes him a stand up guy. To me, that makes him the liar. He said something that was false, and had to apologize for it. Sorry, but anytime you get one of these athletes that says "Oh poor me, they only offered me one of the Top 5 contracts for a guard in NFL History. They lied to me and did me wrong. I'm holding out on principle" - - Well, they don't get my sympathy that some are giving him. I think he's a tool. A tool, that I would like them to re-sign and come back in and help the team. :)

Who passed for the other 55 yards???

Whatever. 345 yards is still a terrible performance if you're not looking at it in the context of "the other team was down several scores and was throwing the whole game".

Ranking defenses by total yards is ridiculous.

I still hope mankins plays for the pats.

he makes the pats a better team, and the OL depth is precarious, especially having to live moment to moment with neal and his injuries
