Well, Carroll did pretty good his first game back.

I don't think Carroll has ever lost an opener for that matter - not that it has impacted his caliber as a coach.
I will give Ryan credit that he is a great defensive mind. But he is the worst head coach for the development of Sanchez. He has put so much pressure on this guy by yapping his mouth when expectations shouldn't be Super Bowl or bust. This guy willnever develop and he will be another David Carr with unrealistic expectations and no one giving him the proper time to develop (although Carr's problem was they threw him in an offense without any receivers or o-line).
To be fair, Sanchez hasn't exactly shrugged off the pressure and the bravado either. If anything, he's indulged it.

I don't buy this need time to develop. There are plenty of other QBs that needed no time to develop and still performed (ie Rothlesberger, Manning(s)). You either have it or you don't. The question is how long will the Jets take to find out if Sanchize has it?
Watching Hard Knocks, it seemed pretty clear that he was overwhelmed by it and put on a false bravado to mask it. But you could see that Matt Cavanaugh and Brian Shottenheimer saw it (most notably the famous scene where Cavanaugh tried to lecture Sanchez about confidence and Sanchez never looked him in the eye and fiddled with his gym bag). I think Sexy Rex was too busy gushing over his new FB to see it.
I didn't bother to watch Hard Knocks.
Some QBs can make immediate or near immediate impacts and others take 2-4 years to develop (Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees). Sanchez had minimal experience in college and is a guy who needs time to develop. He may never be a great or even good QB, but I think in his current situation he is going to be a bust unless Sexy Rexy changes his approach.
Even Eli Manning didn't have the expectations and pressure in the NY market and the Giants dominate over the Jets in the media and fans. The talk on the sports radio and in the media is that Sanchez and the offense are going to make this Super Bowl team a loser.
