New York Jets owner calls, apologizes to female reporter - ESPN New York

"Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum called Joanne Gerstner, a board member of the AWSM, on Sunday to discuss the matter. The two organizations were working to schedule an educational and awareness session with the team, according to Jets spokesman Bruce Speight."

Oh how classic! The Jets and Rex are going to take a "how not to be ****s" seminar. LOL!!!!

Zeke Mowatt is leading the training class.

Re: Jets To Take "How Not to Be ****s" Seminar

The Jets really seem like a team where the inmates are running the asylum and a frat house. I still think all this swagger and lack of professionalism might end really badly for them.

Loss of a 2nd round draft pick at the minimum.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I seriously hope so ... ;););)

Re: Jets To Take "How Not to Be ****s" Seminar

It seems not just the players but the big fat ugly REX and his LB coach were throwing balls next to the lady and passing on comments. When the head coach acts like a ****, what else do you expect the players to be? Gandhis?

Re: Jets To Take "How Not to Be ****s" Seminar

Their freakin' coach was instigating the reporter's harassment. Rex Ryan was one of the guys throwing footballs toward her.

My thoughts exactly, they're to full of themselves. Jabba the Gut and his team have bought into the myth, the hype that he created. Its going to come back and haunt them.

Unless the seminar is run by miracle workers, there's little hope a making a dent in the thick skulls of these loathsome knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers.

So when is that Jets butt boy Goodell going to lay down some suspensions? This should be worth a 1 game suspension per player involved.

Ok, it's not going to happen but I can dream.

According to the conduct policy, this should have legs. I know it won't, since there is no evidence/ tapes. If they nailed BRurger for a similar action, UNCONVICTED, why aren't the Jets responsible? It was professional misconduct by the organization, as a whole, encouraged by the HC. I don't care what she looks like. Is this the free pass we should have gotten? Where's Arlen sticking up for Equal Rights?

Oh, ****, I just realized! This was created by Goodell to help the Jest on their quest for 19-0. He realized how it helped us after IT broke out and is using this to help his team go for the promised land. I think I might be right about this.

There's a big difference between some catcalls, and raping a series of drunk college girls.

There are quotes from the woman saying she didn't take it personally (some assistant coach thew some footballs in her direction, and then they were catcalling her and/or making fun of her in the lockerroom), and she didn't want or realize that it would become this big thing. Not for nothing, but this "reporter" goes around in skimpy bikinis and skin tight outfits which emphasize her ass-ets.

This is going nowhere. It's not like they attacked Andrea Cremer in a business suit (which would make me mad). And please don't say I am blaming the victim; I'm not, but if you want to be taken seriously as a reporter, then you don't approach the business like this lady does, and you certainly don't go into a lockerroom filled with proven frat boys and expect more decorum than what happened.

I don't see this any different than the Lisa Olsen situation, which as you may recall resulted in fines, but no suspensions. Those fines were used to pay for a seminar on "how not to be a ****" for the NEP.

Taking shots at the beach is one thing. Is that what you mean by, she goes around in bikinis? A lot of women wear bikinis. At the beach.

What does she wear at work?

Not that it excuses the neanderthal like behavior at all, but certainly she should dress casually but appropriately for her job.

Taking the Jests out of this, it does raise a question I've always had: why in the world do professional athletes have to give up basic privacy? Isn't this treating them like dehumanized slabs of meat to have strangers walking around while they clean up from work? This is one of those traditions that is long overdue for a change.

The reason I have a huge problem with this whole thing is because of the Lisa Olson story. It killed this franchise, and lost a great deal of fans in the process. Why are they not accountable too? That's all I'm asking.

There's a big difference between some catcalls, and raping a series of drunk college girls. Today 09:09 PM

Not today there shouldn't, not after we were held so accountable for what happened back in '86. Beyond that, if Rog was honest, he'd put forth the same effort he did with Spygate that he should with this.

Agreed. The Pats organization got an institutional rape from the NFL front office and Commish over a frikkin' "rules violation". The least that the NFL can do is put this front and center and slap some folks in the JETS organization upside the head with fines and sanctions.

The New York and Jersey press ought to be all over this story, and call out these louts for their unprofessional behaviour.
