Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

What does he need to apologize for? He said what he felt and apologized to Kraft. As a fan do you feel you need an apology for what he said about Kraft?

LM said he would do what i wrote, those are his words not mine.

i am wondering, since he says he will issue a public apology after he signs a contract.....why wait? apologize now .

I wonder in Mankins just wants to get back to the west coast.

Would be cool to trade him now and add to this year's first three rounds.

Oakland is going to continue to suck.

What does he need to apologize for? He said what he felt and apologized to Kraft.

The Pats are only one aspect of Kraft's business practices, and he didn't get to where he is by having people doubt his integrity. Mankins slandered him publicly, and made statements that could impact Kraft's future business dealings. Mankins is showing an embarrassing lack of honor by not having already publicly apologized of his own accord.

I honestly have no idea why some people think there's some sort of unfair burden on Mankins.

Interesting quote from Kraft on the apology: "...I also said, ‘Logan, it would be nice if that was made public because I’m hoping to do a deal with you and I don’t want people to think that how you do a deal is to say that. "

In this day and world, no boss will ever tell an employee, particularly a disgruntled one, what to do when it comes to behaviour. They merely 'suggest' and it is up to the brightness of the employee to realize what they have to do to satisfy the boss if they want to continue in employment.

So, looks like Schefter's source was correct about Kraft's preference for a public apology. I was doubting it.

its a little strange kraft appearing to deny media reports..little uncharacteristic.

The optimal way to resolve this contract impasse is to sign Mankins for one year to a figure between the top money they offered and his one-year tender, with the stipulation that they will not franchise him after the season. In others words, give him Asante's deal.

This is optimal since his draft pick compensation value is not so far from his trade value, and it's worth it to get some OL depth for what will be--at best--a pick of one round better in a trade (i.e. his trade value is late second). So you get a year's worth of optimal play.

The only downside to this is that you're establishing a pattern of allowing players to get away from you (Asante and Mankins) by playing hardball.

That just means he got one tiny bit of the story right, since the main point of Schefter's piece is that the lack of public apology held up a done deal.

That's like somebody writing that I banged a hot chick in a bar, with the only tiny truthful part being that I was at a bar and that a hot chick was indeed present.

I mentioned it because I doubted even the public apology request.

If Kraft's future dealings are impacted by what some meathead football player thinks, then we're all in trouble.

Assuming Kraft was telling it 100% correctly from the point of view of both sides, I was very encouraged by what he said.

Re: Kraft on EEI

Kraft says he never had a deal in place Mankins....says Mankins did apologize to him and Mankins stated to Kraft that he would make it clear that his prior comments about the Patriots were uncalled for and untrue and he would publicly clear the air when he (Mankins) either signed with the Patriots OR with another team. Kraft says Shefter's story is a boldface fib.
It's clear that Mankins camp is who leaked this
Logan may be a man of principle (??) but I'm not so sure his agent is.

+1

Bauer continues to stir up trouble in the dying ashes of this issue.

Seems like Mankins had the common sense to resolve the 'apology' issue which many people insisted we should blindly ignore.

Mankins simply apologized and that is not an issue at all anymore. I am glad that Mankins is capable of understanding right and wrong. And Bob Kraft AS ALWAYS went out of his way to be gracious about the whole deal and say that he hopes Mankins retires as a Patriot.

Krafty just made himself and the Patriots another enemy in the national media...Now Schefter will be an anti Pats guy, just like most of 'em out there...

How so? Wouldn't you think Schefter would be more upset at his "source"?

Oh, I forgot your agenda:

"It's obvious that this team is trending downward - maybe not 4-12 downward, but certainly in the 7-9, 8-8 area. Krafty has cheaped out on the , Belichick's drafts have not been the A to B+ range that they were for the first few years of his "administration". More recently we've been in the B- to C- range, which is probably good enough to the team in competition for "a playoff spot", which is all Krafty really wants.
Krafty just wants sellouts - I honestly think he lucked into his first SB title and the second and third were the fruits of good drafting and good player acquisition. Since that luck run out we've had Krafty unable to strike it rich with scrap heap talent the way he did in the past. I feel gipped of late because as a season ticket holder and Mass taxpayer my family has paid over 15K to Krafty in my time as a season ticket holder 1992 - present.
I hope this team wins 12 games and makes a deep playoff run, but franly, I think they're heading in the wrong direction (yes, injuries do not help at all). I wouldn't be surprised if there are 35,000 fans at the last home game...here's HOPING I'm dead wrong..."

The moment i read this you lost ALL credibility.

True. It's not like we could lose a first-round pick and be labeled cheaters for violating a rule about camera placement on the words of some meatheads, either.

What people say publicly matters. That's why we have slander/libel laws.

If the Pat's put the public apology last in their negotiations than that for Mankins would be negotiating in bad faith, which seemed to be his point in the first place. Therefore the question for Bob Kraft is how long do the fans have to wait for the idiot who negotiated the Mankins contract to admit they screwed up by not mentioning the public apology first. The clock is ticking.

Was it ever clear who Schefter's source was? Maybe that person will now be Schefter's enemy. Maybe it's Mankin's nifty, super-competent agent.

THIS.

What people say publicly probably matters more than what actually happens.
