The old man is on eei, says there was NO DEAL with mankins, that says that A Shefter is/was wrong. He said that Mankins was offered Mangold money, and was turned down. Says hes glad to have moss but little else as far as that goes.

After thinking about it for a while yesterday i came to the conclusion that it was just to absurd to be true, on both sides.

For him to be on eei addressing this personally he must feel its a big deal. Maybe Shefter will have to apologize to Kraft now. :D

Re: Kraft on EEI

krafty just torpedoed adam's report .. didn't touch the moss stuff though ..

Re: Kraft on EEI

Also said Mankins apologized to him privately during the process of negotiations since the comments were made. But no deal was ever in place.

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

haha oh well, too bad for schefter, I think hes got a lot of points and sources right, but got nailed on this one today!

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

and he would apologize publicly if he signs contract with Pats or other team.

why wait? if you are such a "man" make public apology now.

Re: Kraft on EEI

Kraft says he never had a deal in place Mankins....says Mankins did apologize to him and Mankins stated to Kraft that he would make it clear that his prior comments about the Patriots were uncalled for and untrue and he would publicly clear the air when he (Mankins) either signed with the Patriots OR with another team. Kraft says Shefter's story is a boldface fib.
It's clear that Mankins camp is who leaked this
Logan may be a man of principle (??) but I'm not so sure his agent is.

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

Time for Mankins to fire his agent if this is true.

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

Schefter's report is just too bizarre to be true.

First of all, the idea the Pats are going to let an agreement with one of their best players fall through because they want him to perform public fellatio is silly.

Secondly, I don't care how principled someone is, the idea they will turn down $57M because they have to make a public "my bad" statement is beyond believable. If Bob Kraft were willing to give me $57M, I would go on TV and tell everyone he was the Messiah.

Oh, the drama!

The plot thickens. This should get interesting.

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

Krafty just made himself and the Patriots another enemy in the national media...Now Schefter will be an anti Pats guy, just like most of 'em out there...

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

Shefter use to be a reliable, stand up guy with lots of resources. Now that he works for ESPN his reputation is taking many hits, one after another. I don't think it's a coincindence! Reiss's work leaves a little to be desired also, since he started with ESPN. I get much more information from this site than I get from Reiss, but that's for a different thread.

That's not the Adam that I know... :)

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

I'm doubt Schefter will hold a grudge, this isn't his first rodeo. Whether the report has any truth to it or not, I am sure he was given it by a source of some sort. The guy is just doing his job.

Re: Kraft on EEI

he (Mankins) either signed with the Patriots OR with another team.

Now that's plausible, because it would be Mankins saying "If what you're saying now is true, you're not as bad as I thought, and if it turns out to be proven ... well, then it will be proven :)"

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

You really believe Kraft when he says that no deal was agreed to?

You think that Mankins would never turn down an agreement if all it required was a public apology? After all, Mankins simply would need to say "I apoolgize if anything I have said has offended the Krafts, the staff or the team. I am happy to be a patriot for the next several years"
========

I agree with you and with Kraft. No deal was in place. The team is not willing to offer what Mankins requires. Mankins isn't willing to accept what the team has offerred. It is really that simple. It is about business and revenue projections and oerceived value.

I believe that it is in the best interest of everyone to either sign a one-year deal or cooperate on seeking a trade.

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

Mr Kraft - you could have signed Mankins before Jahri Evans signed for a fraction of what it is going to cost you now. The same situation could be said for Asante Samuel.

Sometimes, there is value in extensions well before the original contract is to expire, even if you have to tear up a cheaper contract to replace it with a longer one.

re: Bob Kraft on EEI re Schefter "apology" story

Not saying it is true or false either way, but to come out and say Kraft is being 100% honest about this situation is short sighted imho.

Seems to me the Shefter story was always rather weird...always got the feeling some facts were missing.

This kind of sounds like what I though may have happened. Camp Mankins came back as pre season unfolded and the LG position looked better than expected and was told the team had as in Brady's case always been willing to talk but that would now have to start with a conversation with Robert because of what was said earlier. Camp Mankins agreed. Then the number didn't jump to $8M...(although apparently it was in the close vacinity of the Nick Mangold deal) and Camp Mankins for whatever reason had another meltdown.

Logan said early on he had a great relationship with Bill and no issues with Bill. I think he's kidding himself because the man who sets the base number isn't Robert, it's Bill. Bill doesn't involve Robert in that part of the equation unless he decides he wants to deviate from his own numbers discipline, or unless the number represents the kind of committment only ownership ever has the final say on within any organization (the double digit deals).

What does he need to apologize for? He said what he felt and apologized to Kraft. As a fan do you feel you need an apology for what he said about Kraft?
