Tom Curran is officially a moron

Wow, you homerism is reaching the level of insanity. Jet's D was #1 ranked and our D has sucked for 4 years running.
Well, how do we know the Jets defense is better than the Pats' defense? We haven't seen a lot of the Pats' defensive starters play in NFL games yet. :D

Not that I agree with everything that Curran said.... the one thing that is accurate is when he said "We don't know that." and he's right.

I believe our offense WILL be better but neither team has played a real game yet. Once there is a game, or games, completed, then we WILL know if our offense is better than theirs.

Not that I am kissing Curran's ass, but he is right when he said "We don't know that."
The problem with all of these guys is that when it's suggested that the Pats defense might be lousy, it's never "We don't know that yet." It's like a thread here from a while ago which, I thought, was brilliant: "The preseason games don't mean anything, unless the Patriots lose."

Unless he's taking the good old "everyone's 0-0 in the Division at this point" I don't see how anyone could suggest that the Patriots's DON'T have a better offense than the Jets going into the season.

It may be petty of me, if you want your name to be Tommy, then spell it that way. What's with the middle initial bull?

the same reason he wants everyone to call him "Dragon"...he's a narcissist

Maybe he envies Dr. Frank N. Furter.

The Jets have arguably the best overall rushing game in the NFL. The Pats were better than most people realized (ranked 12th overall) despite the fact they have no standout runners.

Passing, on the other hand... only the Browns were worse than the Jets last season. Adding Holmes helps but it's not going to put the Jets anywhere near the potency of the Patriots' aerial attack. That's the difference there. Overall the Patriots offense trumps the Jets and it's not even close.

Curran is dumb.

The Jets HAD arguably the best overall rushing game in the NFL.

Wrecks wrecked it by shiping out Alan Fanica, Thomas) Jones and Leon Washington, and replacing them with Matt Slausen (?, an over the hill Ladainian Tomlinson (!), and Joe McKnight (?!?).

Oh.... Brady >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sanchez

I think you may have valued Sanchez a bit to highly there, but I agree with the rest of it.

Other than Brady vs. Sanchez, the Jets win comparisons at RB, O-Line, TEs (at least for now), and WRs could be called a wash (Old and disgruntled Moss, recovering Welker, unproven Tate vs. Holmes, Edwards and Cotchery). That being said, obviously Brady over Sanchez has the most impact. However, keep in mind the quality of pass rush the Jets can generate will serve to equalize the QB comparison: In other words, Brady scrambling and moving to avoid hits will probably have a similar QB rating to a Sanchez who has time to throw. Not to mention the quality of CBs the QBs will be throwing at...I really hope Cunningham is the real deal. Otherwise, I think we are in trouble.

PS For those that are going to throw out superior game planning and adjustments, after last year, I'm not so confident.

well..the offense will be better than the jets hopefully but i do share his concerns of the offensive line. even with kaczur and mankins we have had protection issues with brady getting hit a lot.

Curran also said that they were ripping up this year of Brady's contract and the 4year deal was starting now. One of the other writers (I forget who) texted him right after he said that and corrected him. I give him credit for admitting he was wrong but how could he not know that being in his position?

I caught snipets of the big show yesterday and I could have sworn Curran actually said his pick was Miami, which is even sillier. Had to do with all the great improvements of the offseason (players who must have upgraded blank slots - other teams make additions vs. we make replacements and their rookies count while the jury remains out on any we plan to field...). Cited Marshall and Dansby but also Misi and both of last years cornerbacks Smith and Davis for his rationale... And he said this after Carucci was on and handing them this insider info on Miami that as PFW points out they completely muffed as only that show can by talking over the guest...Curran is a strange dude who gets too much deference from his peers. As a result he gets entrenched (as he literally did on his Brady knee debaucle) which is almost comical to follow when he's matched up with someone like DeOssie who played the game and they are arguing player and scheme performance...

Again, it's not that they should all perceive everything we've done as a slam dunk, it's just that it counts just like what opponents did which is also not a slam dunk... Level the assessment field just like the playing field. The locals nitpick this team to death in fear of being seen as homers and gloss over opposition's warts...like there aren't any...and end up looking like fools in the process.

A training camp that started sunny in Miami has given way to an increasing number of dark clouds over the Dolphins franchise. Add this comment from NFL.com's Vic Carucci to the mix:

"I will say, for whatever weight this carries, that Bill Parcells is very disappointed in [Chad Henne]," Carucci said on WEEI on Friday. "But that's not what made Bill resign his position or anything."

Unfortunately, the show's hosts cut Carucci off with jokes before the listeners could learn more, but the point was made. Carucci is tight with Parcells, and you can be sure those concerns extend throughout the upper brass of the organization.

There have been other red flags for Miami over the last month. Parcells abruptly left. Much-hyped rookie linebacker Koa Misi lost his starting job. Cornerback Sean Smith lost his job to Jason Allen. The offensive line is unsettled.

None of these issues are backbreakers; it's only the preseason. But they combine to make a team that should be on the rise enter the season with a lot of bad vibes.

And i don't know what the rest of you think you heard, but I wasn't having a senior moment with Curran...His Superbowl picks are NO and .......... Miami.

Your not, I heard that too and was waiting for Carucci to elaborate but like you say they all started talking over each other which is par for the course on that show.
I think Miami's become the favorite pick for these guys because they hate the jets but dont want to be percieved as homers by picking the Pats.

Curran is on EEI. Ordway said the Pats' offense is clearly better than the Jets. Curran's response was "We don't know that". When Big O called him out, Curran responded in muttered sentences "When Santonio Holmes comes back" and the Pats have more questions at left guard. He was grasping at straws to support his belief the Jets will win the division. I got no problem with him believing that, but don't use stupidity to prove your belief.

This is the world of the Boston Mediot
Every question/perceived weakness surrounding the local teams is MONUMENTAL and every question/perceived weakness surrounding other teams is minimized
That's why they're mediots
Never make a mistake in thinking that one has to be intelligent or have integrity to be a member of the media.
Think we know better. Look at Perv Borgie.....if you must. Ugghhh!! ;)
Btw Steve DeOssie destroyed Curran and made him look foolish with actual facts about other teams Curran was praising and how they stack up against the Patriots. That's why I love DeOssie. He's not a Patriot ball washer but he's also not a member of the Contrarian club.

Super Bowl XLV . . . who ya got?

You are right. Curran has the Pats finishing third in the division. My bad.

Superior game planning and adjustments were debunked in 06 AFC championship game, and again in 07 SB. Watch last year's Jets game and Denver game, BB the coach has been outcoached often lately. Maybe someone can point to a game that coaching won it for us last year.

What an ass.

Running Games without Thomas Jones will be virtually equal.

Edwards/Cotchery drop as many as they catch.

Oh.... Brady >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sanchez

Thomas jones is now the third string in kc. He was a work horse but nothing special. If you put Maroney on the jets he would rush for 1200 yards.

Corchery never drops anything and is the most surehanded guy we have.

Edwards, whom I love, does have a problem catching the ball. And no arguments about Brady > Sanchez.

Just bringing this back up in hopes that Curran has re-considered his position.

I won't argue with the thread title. I will, however, point out that I never alleged the Jets offense was superior to the Patriots. Just that the question marks the Patriots have up front are concerns. The Jets' line is as good as the Patriots. Or better. Their running game is superior. The Patriots have them everywhere else. The other point I was making is that, as inept as the Jets offense may be, their defense is better equipped to keep them in games than the Patriots' defense is when their respective offenses sputter.
