They brought him in to handle bigger NT like vince.
he was very effective the 1 time he actually was not hurt and played.

No other OL took snaps as center other than koppen this year ,so maybe but the guy cannot stay healthy.

6-4 300, nasty demeanor.
I remember reading about nasty his antics while at VT.
We need as much interior help as we can get with Connely being unproven (4 pre-season games does not make one proven) and Neal being fragile. I'm sure he can play G.

Worth a look imho.

Constantly injured. A mauler, when healthy, but undependable. Plus, I'm not as down on Koppen as some people are. No thanks.

If he could stay healthy, I would say worth a look, but seems he can't!

You mean 4 pre-season games THIS year.

You didn't include being the primary interior backup and 4 starts down the stretch last year. IIRC it was one start at OC and 3 at RG.

He's more proven than you are giving him credit for.

My point was he's an unproven starting guard in this league.
He's proven NFL caliber offensive lineman - but starting on a regular basis that is yet to be determined.
Filling in for a few games last year is not that different from pre-season this year.

I'm not trying to take away from him - I hope he does well.
But he's an unknown as an every down every game player.

Cousin, Grove would help if healthy. The real question is why are they not bringing in Bobby McCray. He can bring pressure, He is not that old. He is a DE . He is better than Gerrard Warren and Wright. 6'6" AND 260 only 29 and 29.5 career sacks. A salary casualty in N.O.
Who has been scouring the FA sheets down there? Someone is sleeping.

Trade. Yep I trade Mankins to the Redskins who are beat up on the O line for a third rounder.....plus Haynesworth in a minute. Yes, I know what a creep he is but his Team Mates have no issue with him. It's management. He is an immediate upgrade to our D and is still young enough. He is slated to start RDE in a 3-4 for the Skins. He is cheap too. Why not here? After calling out the owner and the coach is Mankins less of a creep than Haynesworth? Snyder will overpay for Mankins to get him his $ as the worlds greatest NFL guard.

The Cowboys are also O-Line desperate as are the Giants. Osi and a third for Mankins or Tashard Choice and DE Steven Bowen even up for Mankins from the Boys.

DW, McCray has one season of 10 sacks. He had 1.5 sacks last year and didn't start. He also doesn't even play the same position as Gerard Warren or Mike Wright. You better do some serious research if you think the Patriots need this guy.

As for Grove, as always, bring him in for a look. I wouldn't mind having him over Wendell or Ojinnaka on a backup's pay. He might be healthier as a reserve. He could definitely help us in the running game.

Cmon now. It's DWToys. The guy who in the same post advocates bringing in Haynesworth, who has been throwing a perpetual ***** fit due to his unwillingness to play in a 3-4 defense, to come in an play DE in... oh, that's right, a 3-4 defense.

As a backup, sure. It's not like we don't already have an injury-prone interior line type;) Mr. Neal, I'm looking at you.

Yep, I said it Jack and I stand behind it. He is playing RDE in a 3-4 starting this weekend. What is your superb idea? You think it is all about 3-4 with Haynesworth? Come on Jack, you know better than that!!!

I say he would be our fourth best defensive player on the Team this season. Anyone doubt that? ......Wait, Is Jack saying Gerrard Warren is the reincarnation of the Reverend Mr. White or even close to Peppers?

P.S. McCray on third downs is better than what we have now. What are you guys, soft? What are you guys thinking? We have "0" pass rush possibilities.

Thank you for bringing back the crazy, Cousin. Please stick around for the season.

And just so you know, Haynesworth isn't even starting on opening day. If you want to take a flyer on that malcontent turd, it's certainly your right to be of that opinion. I'm just glad the Patriots won't be doing so.

Well, to be fair, I thought they should've considered trading for Haynesworth, too. But that was before his antics this summer. Seems pretty clear now that the guy is a huge locker room problem, which I thought had been blown out of proportion. Evidently I was wrong.

I still find it hard to believe that anyone could think McCray is the answer to our pass-rush problems. I'd rather have anyone currently on our roster over him.

Perhaps there's a misunderstanding.

Brother Jake Grove's attendance is required.

As with anyone, the question is whether the player would be a significant upgrade over the player he replaced on the roster. So, one should compare his value NOT to Koppen but to Ojinnaka or Wendell or Meneri.

That being said, I suspect that Groves is not an upgrade.

can he play guard ?

dont know much about the guy

Mean, strong and can't stay on the field.

Still, he would be an upgrade over a couple of the guys we got, at least talent-wise. Don't know about his ability to pick up new systems.
