This is one guy we cannot afford to go without right now. I guess we'll know by this afternoon what his ailment is. Maybe he's just being given the day off...they did that last year, but they seemed to completely curb the practice this year.

Either way, its disconcerting, especially with Edelman out. That leaves us just Welker and Tate, effectively. Price and Slater cannot be counted on to contribute in a game at this point.

Let's hope it was just a day off for the vet.

Gresh and Zo pointed out that this is probably just part of regular maintenance for a vet, as Randy was regularly held out of practice Wednesday's last year.

I seem to recall him getting Wednesdays (maybe Thursdays?) off every week last year. I'm not going to worry too much unless he's not there tomorrow either.

OUT: Randy Moss (dog-fake)

There is no doubt (in my mind) that Moss starts week one, I think he's just getting a rest day. I think they are holding back Maroney as well to start, but I may be alone in that thinking.

OK, let's hope so. Could very well be it.

It would seem to be a good time to appease the guy given his comments of late. Moss isn't someone you want to mentally check out. BB and Brady know this.

What the heck is a dog faker, anyway? I Googled it and the first result was that infamous thread... not cstjohn17's best moment, that's for sure.

I wouldn't be shocked if that were the case (re: Maroney), but I think we'd see him out of the sweats and in practice tomorrow then.

And if the pattern referenced regarding Moss holds true (Moss' days off on Wednesday), then we'd know that today had a heavier focus on the running game. So Maroney's absence today would mean more.

So I'd lean towards expecting Taylor to be the first RB in the game on Sunday.

Why do you mention Brady like his opinion on the subject matters?

I also don't think Brady and Bellichick would have been so effusive in complimenting a player who wasn't going to be playing that weekend.

What I did take note of was Brady's statement that new people needed to contribute, and he first mentioned Brandon Tate, then Gronkowski, then Matthew Slater. I thought his mention of Slater in that list was interesting. Unless Slater is playing the Edelman role week 1.

Since he joined in for the pro-Moss comments today. I don't think the two were a coincidence - and neither were BB's comments in support of Moss.

It's all part of the same strategy to keep Moss mentally right. And it incorporates Brady.

It isn't a stratagy at all... The reporters ask the question and they answer it. It couldn't possibly be their true feelings about Moss? I mean, the reporters that never met Moss clearly know more about him then two people that interact with him on a daily basis, right?

Good point. Maroney is a mystery this year. Maybe he just tweaked something recently. If he's held out tomorrow, then I bet thats the case. I put little stock in the injury report, thats for sure.

Traded for the ultimate team player, Adam Seward.

This...... :D

I am sure this is their true feelings - both Brady and BB seem to have a very sincere appreciation for what Moss brings to the table. But they made a point of making these comments. Belichick coaches the players on what to say re: the media every week (as seen numerous times in Patriot Reign, for instance). And I am 100% that he and Brady's campaign for Randy, while genuine, was planned and with the purpose of helping keep their star receiver happy.

I'm pretty sure that Randy had Wednesdays off most weeks last year. The Pats try to preserve him during the week for the weekends. nothing to worry about yet.

I was going to say that the team probably told him he wasn't wanted, but BradyFTW! beat me to the punch with the Moss jokes. And yes, he was regularly held out of practice on Wednesdays last season.
