Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

But what about the over-the-top reactions by Pats fans?

Patriots fans sent me some of the nastier e-mails I've ever gotten. The New England organization was furious with me. When I covered a Patriots game the following week a close writer friend said he couldn't talk to me in front of Patriots officials for fear of retribution to him. He was serious. I thought his reaction was humorous. Did he believe the Patriots were going to add cyanide to his diet soda?

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

You really think if NE offers less for Randy's services in 2011 that he would stay on here because he loves being a Patriot?

I would not bet your home and finances on that or might might end up in a homeless shelter and going to a soup kitchen for dinner.

Randy will go where the money is..even if he does not need the money.

He took less on his last two contracts. If we keep discussing Randy's history, why would this be any different? Unless a team like Indi offers more money, I think he stays in New England.

Anyone worried that Moss missed practice today?

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

Dog Faker...

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

If the money is drastically different, sure, he'll go where the money is.

If the money is close, and a team without a good quarterback offers a little more, you think he's going to take a couple extra million to have Alex Smith or Matt Moore or Tavaris Jackson, etc throw to him instead of Brady?

Not every decision to stay in NE is about some extremist idea of Patriots loyalty. Sometimes it just makes the most sense for a player for a number of reasons (home life, teammates, money, winning, and/or role).

If Randy puts up another 1,200 to 1,400 yard season there will be teams paying a ton to get him, even at 34 years of age...the better he plays this year I think the less chance NE outbids other teams offers or even comes close.

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

Was Randy's words taken out of context several months ago when he said the Pats will not renew his contract because they will choose not to?...

Its not the first time we heard this and many Pats homers refuse to believe that a player of Randy's stature could actually not be happy in a Pats uniform - there is a possibility you know

its a real world and why not get out there and realize that not every member of the Patriots right now may care to be here until they retire..its all about the money and players these days could give a sh!t whether they are in a Patriots uniform or a Lions uniform as long as the Paycheck is substantial.

There are no longer guarantees you will go deep into the playoffs and win a SB just because you joined NE.. its not 2003 anymore and besides once again as I stated I think more than 60% of players could care less about winning and more about their life after football is over, its all about the benjamins and this is a business - its a shame but its the truth for more than half the league IMO - Randy is one of hundreds who want BIG money and won't be happy until they get what they want, see Logan Mankins for example.

With that being said,If Randy wants mucho dollars in 2011 he won't get it here so he better perform admirably for the other 31 teams in the league to take notice and value his efforts in 2010

ehh Randy moss was offered more money by the philadelphia eagles when he signed his last deal with the patriots

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

He is still a beast! The way he runs dragging x lbs of chains behind him... insane. Preseason? Meh.... I'm looking forward to Brady and Moss killing it this year.

As far as the media rabble about his comments, as far as I'm concerned, this is great. The more mediot attention devoted to Moss, who is used to it, the more the young players on this team can concentrate on their job. This just gives Moss more to prove. Thank you al breer, thank you freeman.:rocker:

I'll add something else to the mix. I'd be willing to bet money that Moss wasn't serious when he said he "didn't feel wanted in New England". I'd be willing to bet he was jacking up the reporter to see what kind of reaction he was going to get. After all, he's had to listen to all the crap from the mediots about how he's lost a step, he's "dog-faking" and all the other crap out there. Why shouldn't Randy just tell them what he thinks (or knows) they want to hear? After all, Felger and the other reportards are going to print and say what THEY want to say regardless of the facts.

I think Randy played the media and is laughing his @ss off at them and all their pollyanna handwringing.

respects,

That's a different argument. What I asked was, if the money is close, is he leaving NE and Tom Brady for $1m more per season? Maybe to go play for the Colts, or Saints, or Chargers, or another contending team with a good QB. But what you said was basically, "He's going to the highest bidder, case closed, nothing about his situation in New England would keep him him for less money." I think that's way too black and white.

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

There are a couple of different issues here.

I think Randy has agreed to less money to stay in NE in the past. I do not think he will do it again. I think it is defintely in his best interest to get the biggest pay out as possible in his next contract. He does not have too many more big contracts in front of him.

I also do not think that the Patriots will be the team to offer him top dollar so it was a legitimate point he made.

The thing is, if you look at everything he has said it just shows he is just being a realistic intelligent man.

Randy Moss has done more then be a good player here in New England. He has shown a tremendous work ethic and he handled himself with a lot of class. Reporters can try to spin his words anyways they but I would hope any fan would appreciate what he has done here on the field and how he has handled himself off of the field and give him some credit.

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

The last time I wrote about Randy Moss, I called him lazy. It happened here. Afterwards, it seemed the entire New England area wanted to Thelma-and-Louise me off a cliff.

I questioned his work ethic and overall approach to football. His defenders said Randy Moss was misunderstood and busted his butt. They said he was injured, not lackadaisical.

When other NFL players just a short time later publicly stated the exact same thing I wrote, those players were written off as crybabies and sore losers.

Moss had a sophisticated apparatus defending him that included the entire Patriots organization and some in the media. He was more protected than a head of state in a fortified bunker.

That's what the Patriots have always done with Moss. They baby him, insulate him, and protect him from a cold, cruel world.

So 83 catches and over 1,000 yards with a separated shoulder.

I think this writer is an...

I feel for him. It must be difficult to write while on the cross.

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

Moss is going to have a monster year. I am willing to guess he'll have a career year.

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

I just can't wait for Thursday and then the Pats game.

:agree::agree:

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

Fans who easily swayed by the media.

Fans here who let the media control the topics on this board.

Fans who don't realize that by posting the crap they are enabling the crapper.

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

Randy is at a crossroads between a rock and a hard place I believe

Seriously I have no idea what Randy we will see this year.

My one and only concern with Randy this year is how many snaps he will play. I do not think it's wise to throw him out there as much as in the past. I think like a valuable pitcher in baseball his field reps need to be monitored.

Randy as always will take of the rest.

I think he will post better numbers if he is used less as a decoy ... is my premise.
I understand he's an mvp decoy ... but it has it's price in November and December.

Re: Freeman:Bad Randy is back and Patriots will get their taste

Bad Randy, bad Lawyer, bad Ty, bad Assante, bad Richard, bad Adalius, bad Corey,

Tom almost was bad but he is good ... or is he bad ... ron says he's bad so I am :confused3:

where would our writers be without these bad people. :confused2:

i need to go over all the articles now so i know who is good - who is bad - and who may be a dog faker.

It's much easier to root for my team when I root as I am told.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

"Bad Randy" was due to receive about $20 million over his two remaining seasons in Oakland and hapilly left to play for less money - so there's clearly no sole correlation between salary and Moss' attitude.

Why anyone would think Moss would actually go out of his way to dog it in a contract year is beyond me.

I'd be more concerned about his production if they DID extend him.

Freeman's back? Damn, this is what I don't like about the regular season.

Tip: random sportswriters should not question the work ethic of hall of fame WRs who put in more work in one week than they do in a given year.
