We've lost Woods, Alexander, Aiken, Lockett and McGowan. We even waived ST prospect Brown.
We are using roster spots for Fletcher and Love. Perhaps a STer is a better use of a roster spot.
I don't think nearly enough is being said about this. I can't see ST, the coverage teams at least, not being negatively impacted by these cuts. Woods and Aiken were surprise cuts to me, given their versatility and ST contributions. I can see the reasoning (Slater is needed as a backup KR to Tate, and Fletcher can perhaps equal Wood's contribution on ST), but in the short term I see a ST drop off, at least on the coverage teams.
Sorry to divert from the subject....but I think its as much a ST discussion as it is about charlie anderson
I find it disheartening that they are bringing so many people in for a loo see at this stage of the season. I may be wrong, but I dont seem to recall this much activity before the start of any season in recent years.
It's either a ploy by BB, which I doubt, or there is a lot more situational problems then we actually realize.
But, in either case, it is curious and, as mentioned, disheartening.

No need to panic guys. Just being proactive, looking ahead, keeping your powder dry. Nothing wrong with that, and certainly no cause fir concern.
But as I've said often here, BB values ST. If he's cutting those players, do you think he'd do so unless he had people who can fill their roles still on the team? Or do you think he just abandoned the coverage teams altogether for some reason?
As to the level of activity, I think this is standard. We're always bringing guys in for looks. Every year. It doesn't always mean there's a problem, just that when injuries happen (and they will happen) we have names and ratings associated with a wide range of players/positions.
People in here love to jump off cliffs because, you see, those are virtual cliffs they're jumping off all the time which means they get to do it again and again, unlike in real life, unfortunately.
I think it's NOT Slater for Aiken at all...closer to White for Aiken as both have considerable ST experience...Slater in his non return role has some skills others do not...and he can fill in returning IF needed. I think that is why he is still around. Murrell, Ninkovich, Page and others will fit in fine. No, I agree, and I trust BB as much as the next person. But just as offense and defensive players need to establish trust and cohesion, I believe there is an element to that on special teams as well, and these were core special teams guys that were cut.
I'm just wondering whether any initial ST's dropoff will be noticeable. I'm assuming that the coaches see the upgrades from Woods -> Murrell and Alexander -> Fletcher outweighing the former player's ST contributions, which is fine with me.
I also reckon that Slater was chosen over Aiken because in the event Tate is injured, we have no backup KR if you consider that Edeleman is injured, and using either of our CB's to return kicks would be lunacy given our depth at CB. That being said, I was never impressed with Slater, and would rather see Maroney return kicks, especially if he's not the #1 RB in the committee. Which would allow us to keep Aiken.

He is..He never played STs in college but a fast learner.I thought Fletcher was playing special teams.

You are devaluing years of experience of STs...that is why I used Aiken and White as opposed to Slater. Why do you think that there must be SOMETHING on film besides St play?? Frankly..I am not sure there is and..I am thinking he's more like Izzo in that he's less of a position player MORE Sts... While BB likes versatility..do you think THAT is the only criteria he cares about?? As for Slater..just watch his ST play..from last year...when he is NOT returning especially. He;s NOT that great a returner..but there's MORE to Sts than returning...on KICK OFFs there's a returner and 10 others. Watch what those 10 others do..Not sure I agree, considering that Aiken and Slater are both WR's (yes, I realize that Slater has played some safety), and White is a LB. I see Slater as mostly a returner, I don't recall a non-return role where he brought anything special to the table. Would love some specific examples to prove me wrong though.
Considering how BB values versatility, I think there has to be something on film where White showed something on film besides special team ability. I'm not sure whether he'd be considered depth at ILB or OLB, but I do think he is more of a LB replacement for Mckenzie, Alexander, or Woods.
Anderson was a candidate to start in Miami, but got beat out for the job by Wake, Misi and Alama-Francis.
Decent special teamer who contributes a little something to the pass rush.
Not a solution, but probably a better all-purpose player than Woods was, and improvement is improvement.
