Sorry... couldn't resist

Celtics blog - Boston Globe basketball news

Too bad he's suspended for the first 10 games and can't play against the Heat for Game 1... still maybe he can sit at the end of the bench and provide a few distractions for his almost-stepson

Honestly I can't recall whether that rumor was ever debunked but I'm glad to have Delonte West back... as a 15th player he's a good one to have, even with his faults.... and Ainge and Doc know what they have in him.

Good guy to have coming off of the bench. The first game is definitely going to be interesting.

Hell the entire season will be interesting, this team had a couple hundred grand and some ham samwiches to lure players and somehow Danny made it work.

And we were able to retain Nate Robinson, when everyone thought it was a foregone conclusion he'd get starter money somewhere else.

I already know we're good enough to beat the Lakers and the Heat are the only team that legitimately worries me in our conference.

Psyched we're going for it all once again.

Well, West is suspended so can't play. I'm not sure if that mean he can't be on the bench or behind the bench watching making kissing faces at LeBron.

On paper one would give the Heat a big advantage but there's a lot of pressure and attention on them for that first game, and the reality is that it can take the team awhile to mesh, so I'm sure few knowledgeable fans in Miami would be shocked if they lost.

I was a bit surprised on Robinson re-signing too but turns out most GMs are smarter than I give them credit for and know that Robinson still has weaknesses that make him better as a backup - at least for now.

Nate probably realizes that he's still young and showing that he can be a stable and consistent player means his next contract could be significant - and that staying with the Celtics can pay off in the long run.

You still gotta give Ainge a ton of credit though on nearly all of his moves and ability to attract the right players.

I'd still contend that had the Leprechauns not denied the Celts the #1 pick in 2007 it's doubtful we'd be praising Ainge, and likely we'd be cursing him and Greg Oden, but he certainly deserves credit for playing the cards he was dealt with.

Why does this look like a move designed to get into LeBron's and Miami's head?

Kind of looks like it depends on whether Delonte is still dating his mom.

In other news ... all Celtics people better keep an eye on their moms ... Delonte likes GILF's.

Delonte must have called back after taking Gloria James out for a nice seafood dinner then. She's obviously no Dorothy Mantooth.

Riling up LeBron is an extra bonus, but Delonte is a good player. He has very high offensive IQ, is a great shooter, and an excellent player off the bench for the Celtics. He's also hilarious, does anyone remember his Valentine's Day piece when he was a Celtic before?

Dorothy Mantooth is a saint!
