Should the Patriots trade for Haynesworth?

How could anyone be upset if the Pats traded for Haynesworth? Our defensive line is poor and needs improvment and depth. What does Haynesworth add? Improvement and depth. Maybe he doesn't fit into our system perfectly but he can be fitted in.

A player who does not fit in perfectly usually gets paid minimum salary and is relegated to special teams or the practice squad.

The Cheese Monkeys was a great book. Especially for a graphic designer.
I'm not a book, but just a monkey that eats cheese. I was trained by humans to type and I'm an avid pats fan.

Oh, OK. My bad. Wouldn't you be several monkeys that eat cheese and possibly share a collective consciousness, though?

If you like coming of age stories it's a good book.

Even TO would not have acted as bad as this idiot has after receiving a $21 million check.

Haynesworth left his talent in Tennessee - no thanks

NICE. :D

John HENDERSON, I would've liked to've seen...a LOT...but I guess Coach B had his reasons...

He has a name I recognize...so hell yeah. Also, it's not my money...so hell yeah. In all seriousness, our D line is weaker than it was last year when Ray Rice just rolled by 'em...play after play. No way G Warren can go 40 plays a game for 16+ weeks. AFC East is a running division. With a rookie ILB, a newbie at OLB, this could get very scary. I am in the "little faith" group. Watching Hard Knocks and Jenkins just busting up plays vs what I have seen from our frontline...not even close. Haynesworth for a 3.... a 2? Didn't Dillon cost a 2...for 1 great year and a year of...not so much.
Tell Shanny..."Lets talk next Monday"

This may sound stupid, but there is some validity to your comment.

There would be if he wasn't a bad fit for the Patriots no matter how "good" he appears to be.

He complains. He refuses to play in 34 defenses. He refuses to listen to his coach. He cares more about going for highlights rather than playing where he needs to be. He has sat out practices with either his ego or questionable injuries as his excuse. And worse yet he is everything that the Patriots DO NOT WANT in a player.

He is a great defender, but he is a terrible fit for the Patriots. He may seem like a great addition but the expense and the drama that comes with it is not worth it in the short term or long term.

Reasons:
-You're smoking crack to post this.
-Dude, just shut up.
-Haynesworth is the biggest trash in the NFL. This isn't the same Patriots' locker room, and Haynesworth could care less about winning.
-Washington's asking price is too high.
-He doesn't fit into our system, and he's whining about the 3-4 as it is. We'd have to restructure our entire defense for one huge problem child.[/QUOTE]

:ditto:

Pass. %$^#$#%$

On the field, the Patriots can use someone of his abilities. He's a good football player, regardless of scheme.

Off the field, if the Patriots management and coaching staff can't manage and motivate talented players with difficult personalities, then they're really overrated as an organization. I know that the objective is to have talented players with no behavioral issues, but these talents often don't go hand-in-hand, especially with football players.

Some of the arguments on this thread could just as easily have appeared in a 2007 thread about Randy Moss.

A large part of the reason Haynesworth is throwing a ***** fit is because he doesn't want to play in a 3-4. Why do you think he'd be more motivated for play for the Patriots... in a 3-4.

Anyway, I'd think the answer would be an unequivocal no.

Pass the bong... I have thought about this, maybe a little too much. The only viable options I can see for improving the defense are:
1) to trade for Haynesworth and then pray that he becomes Richard Seymour is his prime
2) hope and pray the unit 'gels' as the season progresses
