Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

More from Rapoport:

According to our story going up a formal agreement has not been made... but the dollar figures are there for Brady to take the last step

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

Just out of curiosity, does 3 year/$58M = "Breaking The Bank" like so many were thinking he would be looking to do?

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

huh seems kinda short....is that replacing his current contract or adding on to the end of this one? I guess he'd be 37 though so that's fine then.

I would have thought it would be extended; so added onto the end of his current contract.

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

I wonder what type of impact the deal will have on Manning's contract talk with the Colts. They obviously have to pay him more than Brady.

Nope; because the Pats are cheap ;)

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

Ok, so this puts Brady's deal at something like $65 Mil over four years. That's about what everyone figgered, no?

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

Agreed the man is worth every penny of it. how much left to pay most afterwards? Not so sure

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

Anyone else surprised that there's no mention (yet) of bonus for 2010, in light of the possible lockout in '11? Could mean Brady and Kraft are both optimistic about next year?

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

Eh. It is what it is. In some way, shape or form, Brady will have his contract. Then I expect that Moss will get an offer as well. If Brady wants Moss on the team, and I expect that he does, then Moss will also be here if HE wants to be.

I think Moss wants to be here too.

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

WOOOOOOO and I thought Tues was going to be the hump day this week but this will make today easier....Tommorow we have the last hard knocks and the Americas Game for the Saints Colts SB.....Thursday is football and then 8 hours of unproductive work on friday.

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

Weird last report i read from Rap, said he plays this year under the 6.5 and then the 58mm - 3 year kicks in??

As in all deals - I wonder what the guarantees will be, that is all that really means anything.

Please make it so

Surprised there was no attempt to suck some of that 58 into this year.

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

So Brady plays this year for 6.5. the contract doesn't start until next year? What if he is hurt? Isn't he taking all the risk?

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

While this could be portrayed as a four-year, $64-million deal, that’s not the reality of it, according to the source. Brady would not accept a deal that pays him less per year than Eli Manning, who is making $16.4 million per season.
Interesting little nugget from negotiations

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

I still feel like there are too many conditional statements in the story to celebrate. THis one especially set off the caution signal (italics are mine):

The Brady camp has yet to formally agree, but a deal could be in place within the next 24 hours, the Herald has learned.

Not if there are guarantees.

Re: Per WEEI - Brady deal done

Ummm...would YOU sign a contract where YOU took all the risk?
