You like polls. OK i gave them an 8. My concern is the young defense which has plenty of potential and injuries to the O-line. Not much depth there.

8. The team has questions at interior Oline, RB, pass rush, and secondary, but I don't feel these issues are season-breaking. I don't feel any team in the NFL stands alone at the top at this moment, so I'll take the Pats chances even in a changing of the guard phase that we're in now.

I don't know what the ratings mean.

Does a 10 mean they're the best team in the league?

Does a 5 mean they finish out of the playoffs?

Does a 1 mean they finish last overall?

What rating would you assign last year's Pats team? How about last year's Saints? How about the 16-0 team? How about the Super Bowl winning Pats teams?

Give me some reference points please.

I voted 7 ... for now but i think they may be 8/9 by week 6-8.

I'd like to give the offense a 9 ... weakness perhaps in the line and RB but not a major one.

I'd like to give the defense a 5/6 for now but i have confidence they will be @ 7/8 by week 8.

Problem with a question like this is every year I think it takes 6 weeks for Bill to develop his team. He seems inclined to put the work in to be better as opposed to going with what he has and making things simple. Right now I see the defense @6 but i think these kids have talent - drive - and determination to be great ... we'll soon see. When these kids get it together they certainly will be flying out there - i am sure of that.

The Poll simply means of how strong as a team overall you feel we have.....does not compare to other teams but this team alone

If you feel the team has a lot of gaping holes you might be voting around 1 to 4

If you think the team has a few flaws you might go 6 to 8 and if you think the team is an elite powerhouse then 9 or 10 .....and so on

I voted a 7 because I think they are good right now, but they have the potential to be a 9 by the end of the season. I think we have a potent offense and a fast young defense, and once it all gels together I think we will have a very good team come playoff time.

I give them a rating of 2010 with an option of a "BC"

They can either be really good or really bad. Maybe somewhere in between, too. Hope that answers your question.

The offense is 8.6, the defense is 6.7 which kinda makes it an 8 minus. so voted 8

I voted 7. A 9 for the offense (which I expect to be very strong) and a 5 for the D which I think will start off slow, get better over the season and for a season average, end up as 5 which is basically average.

I voted 8. I think the offense will put up plenty of points regardless who we play. Revis island might take out Moss, but what about Welker,
Gronk and Hernandez? I think our weakness will be defense early on, with defensive stops coming because of the opponents mistakes, not the D stopping the drive. But, by Thanksgiving, I hope they have matured enough for the post season drive. I will take 5-5 @ Thanksgiving, and then a 9 game win streak.:D

You'd have to make this public for it to be worth anything.

Not really, since some members' opinions are worth more than others, and some members aren't even Patriots fans.

8. The team is good enough to win a tough AFC East but is probably lacking the playmakers on D to make it past the second round of the playoffs.

No, I agree. We have a lot of trolls on this site, and their opinions are meaningless. In fact, d@mn them to h3ll.

I want to hear from the patsfans.com elite! :)

ALL opinions should count. Throw out the high and the low and take an average of the rest for a true picture.

Anyone who thinks this team is a ten is a homer's homer....anyone who thinks this team is a one,two or three is a troll.

I voted 6 because I just don't know which defense is gonna show up...the one we saw vs NO and Atlanta..or the one we recoiled at when they played Bradford or Eli. I think it's somewhere in between, but there are alot of good teams that they have to play in their schedule.

Offense should be an 8 or better. If their OL holds up and they can get 3 or more ypc running, this Offense could produce a ton of points...

Lets take another poll at the bye

Rate them a 7. Think the offense (redzone, 4th qtr drives and scoring) and special teams will be much improved. Have no idea how good this defense can be but what I like is they have youth and athleticism, i.e. meaing they're going to make some whopping mistakes but they're also going to make some positive game changing plays.
The schedule is brutal and we have no idea how the injury bug will shape this team but all in all this is a better team than last year. More weapons, a QB whose healthy and focused and a more athletic team.

Se7en. Like the movie, I hope they save their wrath for last.

Cleary a playoff-caliber team. The D clearly is a concern, particularly the DL, pass rush and Bodden-less CBs. I would love to see the D round into playoff form come December. If not, I hope the O can put teams in the whole and force opponents to become one-dimensional.

The O is definitely high-powered, but I still want to see more Brady under center, forcing the D to react rather than tee off on him when he's in shotgun, particularly the empty spread.

Regards,
Chris
