Darrelle Revis Charlie Batch, Max Hall, NFL Cutdown weekend talk - Peter King - SI.com

"You can be a world champion, but not like this. We won't win it! We'll sit back and say, 'Why didn't we do it?' We didn't do it because where were our f------ priorities? How about our offense? When are we going to put it together? When are we going to put it together? Can we not run the ball down their throats every snap? Can we not throw it any time we want to f------ throw it? Let's make sure we play like the f------ New York Jets! And not some f------ slapd--- team. That's what I want to see tomorrow. Do we understand what the f--- I want to see tomorrow? Let's go eat a god--- snack."
-- Jets coach Rex Ryan, ending his fiery night-before speech to his team before it faced the Redskins in preseason week three. (See the full speech here.)

A snack! A pep talk ending in a inspirational snack reference! That's the Hard Knocks Quote of All Time, Ross Greenburg and Steve Sabol.

I must say I've never seen a coach exhort his team to eat an evening snack quite the same way before.

"Lets eat a good Snack" = a Freudian slip or his stomach interrupted his brain.

Yeah coach tell the viewing audience whats Really on your mind.

I swear RR suffers from ADD...

Ha Ha, You should know they did not show what the snack was on HK, sounds funny and all till you find out the snack was in fact, Nails!

And it should be noted that this was not a pre game speach, it was a post game speech done the following day, the players were all in street clothes.

That's good, because lobster bibs don't fit over the shoulder pads too well.

Uh, coach....you are playing like the Jets. The team that hasn't won crap except for a few years since the 60's?

Jester coach or not.....I like Rex....seems like a regular guy who I would like to drink a beer....and a snack....with

Would explain the McDonald's bags in excess at the Jets practices.

Sanchise was eating a hotdog on the NJ bench last season.

At all home games, Rex has a grill going on the sidelines with dogs and burgers.

I betcha Rexy has a tab with the food places in the new stadium already.

I'd have to watch again to be sure, but I remember it being the night before the Redskins game. So not pre-game literally, but definitely not post-game.

I laughed at that too, would'nt he want the offense to play like just about any other team than the Jets.

Another Hard Knocks speech.

Let's go ahead and get started.

We have one goal as an organization, knowing one goal, as an organization and that's to win a Super Bowl. Right? That's it. And how do we get it done? I wanna lead the league...in wins. That's what I want on offense. Lead the league...in wins, okay? We straight with that?

These are our expectations. Hey guys we don't have Revis in this building right now. Does it matter that Revis is not here? God damn, he's pretty f---ing good. He's pretty good. Okay? But you know what guys? It ain't about one guy. It's about leading the league in f---ing wins on defense, isn't it? Special team expectations, I wanna lead the league in something, what is it? ...Wins. How about that?

If we play, at our best, we will beat every team in this f---ing league playing at their best. So who's it on? Whose shoulders does it fall on? Ours. We affect how this thing turns out, don't we? And it starts with training camp. We gotta have a great goddamn training camp men.

Last year, "we were under the radar, that's a good place to be" f---- that!. The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always gonna be that way. And now let's go out and prove everybody right. We know we're better than you, We don't give a f--- if you know it or not, we don't give a f---- if you give us your best game, we're gonna give you our best game and we're gonna beat the f--- out of ya!

Truly inspirational. Makes me want a goddamn snack.
