I'll say that the practce squad will be:

OT/OG-George Bussey
OT- Thomas Welch
OG-Rich Ornberger
WR- Darnell Jenkins
LB- Thomas Williams
S- Sergio Brown
TE- Rob Myers

- The last spot will most likely come from another roster but it could be Zac Robinson

Hmmm . . . . I'll go with, assuming only Pats players:

OL: Two of Ohrnberger, Bussey, Welch, Larsen
QB: Robinson
WR: Jenkins, Farnham (play DB on scout teams?)
TE: Myers
S: Brown
LB: Williams

I would add Farnham to that list.

OT/OG-George Bussey
S- Sergio Brown
WR/CB-Buddy Farnham
QB-Zach Robinson
who?
who?
huh?
why?

Larsen
Williams
Brown

Ticks all the boxes except RB.

4 athletes (2 WR's, TE, S). FB/LB in Thomas Williams. 2 developmental OLmen. QB.

Wouldn't shock me if someone else was picked up at QB though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats claim Alex Hall off waivers or sign him to the PS>

Here's a list of players that were recently cut that are practice squad eligible:

QB: Zac Robinson
RB: Chris Taylor, Thomas Clayton
WR: Darnell Jenkins, Buddy Farnham, Rod Owens
TE: Rob Myers, Carson Butler
OL: Ted Larsen, Rich Ohrnberger, Thomas Welch, George Bussey, Brian Simmons

DL: none
OLB: none
ILB: Thomas Williams
S: Sergio Brown, Ross Ventrone
CB: DeAngelo Willingham, Terrence Johnson

For right now I'll guess Sergio Brown, Rob Myers, Darnell Jenkins, Thomas Williams, Thomas Welch, Ted Larsen, George Bussey, and Buddy Farnham. Given how accurate my 53-man roster predictions were, I'll probably be correct on about half of those.

For an historical perspective, here is a list of who began 2009 on the Pats' practice squad:

TE Robbie Agnone
OT Patrick Brown
DT Titus Adams
DT Adrian Grady
DL Darryl Richard
WR Terrence Nunn
WR Isiah Stanback
CB DeAngelo Willingham

And the practice squad at the start of the 2008 season:

DL Titus Adams
OL Jacob Bender
SS Mark Dillard
RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis
OLB Vince Redd
CB Mike Richardson
FS Antwain Spann
TE Tyson Devree

DB Sergio Brown
CB DeAngelo Willingham
OL Rich Ohrnberger
OL George Bussey
QB Zac Robinson

I can see NE exploring the following players to see if they'll suit:
OLB Alex Daniels (Oakland)
DE John Fletcher (Arizona)
DE Malcom Sheppard (Houston)
DE Jarron Gilbert (Chicago)

DB Sergio Brown
CB DeAngelo Willingham
OL Rich Ohrnberger
OL George Bussey
QB Zac Robinson

I can see NE exploring the following players to see if they'll suit:
OLB Alex Daniels (Oakland)
DE John Fletcher (Arizona)
DE Malcom Sheppard (Houston)
DE Jarron Gilbert (Chicago)
I think that O-berger is gone. He had a golden opportunity to not only make the team, but be the #1 interior backup, and was cut. I dont see the point in putting him on the ps. I'd rather use the slot to bring in a different guy we think can develop who hasnt failed here already.
Huge, huge disappointment that he spit the bit.

I do think a QB will be on the PSquad..maybe NOT Robinson..it may depend on what BB sees in him. Would they bring back Gutierrez or O'Connell for that?? THAT could be interesting but might have already burned those bridges.
Jenkins and or Farnham...absolutely.
Meyers would be a solid one..BUT that is if no team signs him.
Two OL I think will be part of the PSquad which?? I tend to agree that O=berger is gone. Bussey may have an inside track, but Larson or Welch could also stick.
Maybe a DL from another team or if Love or Deaderick are cut..but at least 1 DL.
LBs again, I am thinking other teams...Alex Hall MIGHT be a good pickup here; Fletcher, if he's cut, even Williams.
DBs..Brown definitely...
More than 8 there...so it will be a bit tougher.

I love Dane Fletcher, but in an ideal world they would figure a way to put him on the practice squad...unless they see him helping this season.

I think we could do better than Larsen and Oberg and Zac Robinson personally but Zac is an arm they can use for the time being.

I hope we get some more intriguing prospects from around the league.

What about Al Woods, who was cut by New Orleans? He was their 4th rounder this year out of LSU. He worked at DT in the Saints 4-3 defense, but he has the size and agility to be a 3-4 DE. Worth a peek. Hey, we're talking PS here...

Bridges don't matter; neither is eligible: Gutierrez is a fourth-year player, and O'Connell's eligibility got burned up when he was Cassel's backup in 2008.

[Which raises an interesting question: why burn his eligibility like that anyways when you have Gutierrez?]

I suggest you check the rules before making statements..it helps.

Do you have the specific rule that proves him wrong?

One thing I've noticed about CTPatsfan77 is that he's usually got the rules down pretty well and rarely, if ever, mis-speaks on them..

I don't know what their eligibility is, but I don't think either of them will be on BB's call list.. Not when both were cut last year.

I had the same thought when I saw NO placed him on waivers. Not sure he'll clear waivers though.

The latter may be true..but he STILL needs to take a look at the rule..and I guess you do as well...

Obviously, you must be seeing something I'm not, because I've looked at the rule, and everything I see tells me that neither Gutierrez nor O'Connell is eligible. What am I missing?

[I already stated my reasoning; if you're going to flat out say I'm wrong, certainly it's not too much to ask that you explain your logic.]

You are correct. They are not.
