Great job Dane! The next in a long-list of UDFAs to make the team. I love these guys. They don't have the ideal measurables, they don't have the college pedigree, but they come in and want it more than others and it pays off.

You gotta want it!

Don't forget Kyle Love !

Kyle Love was signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent on April 29, 2010.

Dane Fletcher looks like a player out there. Around the ball and able to move. Plays with some confidence.

I've gotta say, the PFW guys hit on Fletcher in the OTAs and were on Love 3 days into Training Camp.

Let's see how Vince gets on with training up a NT for the future.

Love looked good in the preseason.

You'll seldom see a longer long-shot than Love. He was rated the 93rd (!) best DT in the draft by NFLDraftScout, and not among the top 1000 overall draft prospects. His name was not mentioned once on PatsFans before the draft -- and the draft forum DL prospects thread ran to 134 posts.

So the next time we assume any player is "camp fodder," let's remember Mr. Love!

Height: 6011
Weight: 315
40 Yrd Dash: 5.33
20 Yrd Dash: 3.08
10 Yrd Dash: 1.85
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 29
Vertical Jump: 28
Broad Jump: 08'05"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.98
3-Cone Drill: 7.90

Can Fletcher play OLB at this level?

Good for him. I actually would like to see this guy in on some defensive plays, and not just running around on special teams. Guys, we have some interesting young talent at LB. Let's see if we can develop them like the Steelers seem to do year after year.

When the UDFAs signed after the draft I thought Fletcher had the most upside. He is a better athlete than most of the premier pass rushers in the draft this year. He just came from a small school and had some durability concerns. I like him as a LB over Alexander and Williams. If we blitz more he's a guy I'd look out for.

Congrats Dane I'd be happy if you have any positive plays, we like you but we don't love you, your no Connor Barwin.:D

Maybe now that he'll get rid of that DB number, he'll be even more of a playmaker. I wonder if he'll end up with 52, 53 or 58?

He, probably, turned to playing football when he realized that he could not become President Of The United States because of this (from his bio)

Born Nov. 18, 1986 in the Republic of South Korea.

That doesn't disqualify you from becoming President. John McCain, for instance, wasn't born in the USA. The important thing is that he was born to American citizens.

McCain fell under a special provision relating to employees of the American Government in the Panama Canal Zone. But if Love's parents were stationed in Korea with the military, that could qualify him for the fallback career path of the White House. :)

I know alot of media publications have Dane Fletecher projected as Inside Linebacker but after checking the height and weight measurements of our Outside Line Backers, BB might have him projected as an OLB.

Kidding aside, its always a warm fuzzy feeling when one of thes UDFA's works hard and makes an NFL team, and more so when it is one of the, alleged, better teams.

His father was a Colonel in the military. He is a US citizen. Did you not read that far?

Wonder if the military thing intrigued Bill ... he keeps an eye out for these people.

I actually think it's the other way around. Fans and pre-draft publications all projected Fletcher to OLB, but BB has had him training exclusively at ILB.
