@MikeReiss Bit of a surprise in Denver, where it looks like former Patriots DL Jarvis Green has been informed he won't be on 53-man roster.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

thats interesting with Ty out that could be a good to get him back but then why is Denver cutting him.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

No thanks. He was allowed to leave for a reason.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

We have enough ends that can't stop the run

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

Jarvis Green was a wonderful backup player who was unselfish and truly knew the word T-E-A-M player..He never griped about starting and never demanded a trade for more money.

Unfortunately father time has come and gone for Mr. Green - Retire and enjoy your post career Jarvis.

Retire? He's not even 30, is he?

Could be a fortuitous cut for the Pats. He might have been slightly miscast as a starting DE, but he's a great backup and I'd take him over whoever is on the bottom of the rung on the DL.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

Presumably he didn't seem worth the big-money contract. (Oops on the $7 mil guaranteed, eh Broncos?) But that doesn't mean he's useless.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

Last year, he didn't even seem capable of being a steady pass rusher. On top of that, he's a liability against the run. At least Wright can be a presence in the pass rush. No thanks, Jarvis. Go to New Orleans.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

Pass rushing specialist that can no longer get to the passer.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

There is a reason the average NFL career is very short, if you lose half a step and rely on speed rather than strength you go from a good player to a less than average player. Judging by Green's declining play here and the fact that Denver released him despite owing him all that money from that idiotic contract. I doubt he has anything left.

He will be 32 in January..

much like our dud Burgess, both men once had skill at pass rushing...both couldn't get to the QB now if the OL spread out to assist them.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

If he still had it he wouldn't have been cut by Denver, who I dont follow but can't imagine they have a great D line.

Oh really? And you magically know what that reason is?

I'm guessing that his $7m guaranteed contract was too much for a guy who is a backup at this point. McDaniels was an idiot for giving him that kind of money. McD is way too stubborn for his own good.

I'm also going to guess that Green would be a solid veteran backup for us, and well worth a contract between $1-3m. I'd give him a look, if for nothing else than the experience he brings to the defense, especially his knowledge of the system.

The point is that Denver is still paying him the 7 million but don't think he is worthy of a roster spot.

Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....

I would certainly feel better with him on the roster.

Yes. He was allowed to leave because he could no longer get in the backfield against the pass and was always a liability against the run. We now have back-up DE's are liabilities against the run but can at least be a presence against the pass. Like I said, Jarvis should feel free to go to New Orleans.

Who are these people? And who have they been playing against in the pre-season that you feel they are better situational pass rushers than Jarvis?

I wonder if Denver didn't cut him in order to re-sign him after week one.
