Suprise Cuts/Additions to the 53

Price ... you aksed for surprised cuts ... that would be a surprise.

The big surprise would be Morris & BJGE cut and Clayton in.

BB cuting a high pick in his 1st year would be a surprise. Unprecedented and irrational.

BOR has provided what I would call the conventional-wisdom 53-man squad, but every year, BB springs a suprise on us, whether it's a backup OL, a much-reviled LB or WR who gets is ST stud, or an unexpected trade for draft chips.

Let's hear your predictions for suprise cuts/additions, relative to BOR's list. (Kaczur getting IR'd for Ojinnaka in week 2 or some other placeholder for Ojinnaka does not count as a surprise, but a suprise week 2 cut or other random IR prediction would work.)

Yes, this is sort of a thread for the WAGs, but let's try to steer clear of the wishful thinking sign-and-trade stuff, because BB don't play that. My suprise roster move:

Larsen gets retained and BB decides not to spend $1.4M on Burgess.

You should not be using "wisdom" and BOR in the same sentence.

Until they IR Kaszur( sp) he stillhas a roster spot so he has to be accounted for in the 53.

Is it really conventional to have 6 OLBs on the final 53?

Maybe a lesser surprise would be for one of the players no able to get on the field to be IR'd. (Actually, it would be a surprise if one of them weren't.) Here's the list of walking and not-walking wounded from the last practice.

Not seen at practice:
McGowan, Edelboy, Wheatley, Kaczur

Not in pads at practice:
Pryor, Cunningham, Brace, Deaderick, Hernandez, Arrington

Not a pretty picture leaving the game last night:
Morris

Anybody have a read on the injury situation? Box suggests IRing Pryor; why him and not someone else? Bodden got IR'd, so I'm betting against Wheatley being hurt enough to land on IR. Any other thoughts, McGowan to IR for Brown? (Somebody [Reiss?] thought he was more than a little hurt.) Cunningham maintaining the Crable tradition?

Breer retweeted something that I don't believe is correct.. That there is actually a LIMIT as to the number of guys you can have on the IR. And that limit is 6..

Maybe it's something special for the last year of the CBA, but I know the Pats had something like 10 or 12 on the IR back in 2004 and the Bills had more than 6 in each of the last 2 years.

If he really said that and unless it's a 2010 provision because of the CBA situation he is wrong, flat out wrong. They had 9 last year. Took me 12 seconds to look that up. What are you going to do not let anyone else get hurt after there is 6?

Robbie Agnone
George Bussey
Shawn Crable
Darnell Jenkins
Bret Lockett
Tyrone McKenzie
Brandon Tate
Chris Taylor
Wes Welker

Bigheaded Breer is wrong on that one..A decade plus ago THERE WAS a limit..but that is not the case now. I don't have access to look up how many were on in past years, but I KNOW it was way past 6 and has been. Seems that a football writer should KNOW these things as a foundation.

Not really. That is the sort of minutiae I don't care if a writer knows cold or not. But I do think that he could have done some, you know, research before tweeting.

Firstly..it's HARDLY minutiae..If you don't know what you are talking about THAT is clearly minor league. The problem is too many do not...and worse that so called fans do not care. Breer should know better and for one so abrasive and knowing everything..much less than he did when he started out..REALLY pitiful. I wonder how quick he will be to admit his mistake?? Reiss always does..which is why he's a MILE better than Breer ever will be.

As someone whose job it is, he should know these things he should at the absolute minimum, give the correct information. That's not too much too ask, is it? As I said in an earlier post, it took me all of 12 seconds too look that up.

Let me clarify:

What I was saying is that there are things that reporters do not need to be able to remember off the top of their heads. This number, I feel, is one of them.

However, I think it is absolutely irresponsible to not look it up, and simply spout off stuff you hear without verifying it (*cough* Herald Hack *cough*).

Meh. It's a tweet. Can't expect it to be researched. It's the equivalent of virtual barstool chatter. Of course, you also can't think of a tweet as journalism, nor a tweeter as a journalist.

Did Kyle Love play himself onto the team? Did Sergio Brown? I only saw parts of the game. From the little that I saw they looked pretty good. Love could be the NT backup that we don't seem to have now. I don't think D. Lewis is guaranteed a spot on the 53

Saw this and liked the sound of it. BB is nothing if not consistent. Picking up draft picks, only to cut them because they don't have the experience of a JAG vet, doesn't really match-up. Kudos on the prediction. Whether Love lands on the PS or the 53 is sort of a moot point. He's the depth that Lewis isn't good enough to provide.

But the thing is I know it of the top of my head, yet I still looked it just to be sure when responding on a message board. He gets paid to know these things but he can't do the same?

With Ty, Richard and Weston on IR and Lewis released, maybe a spot opened up to keep Love. Assuming Wilfork, Warren, Wright, Pryor, Brace and Deaderick make the 53, Love would be the 7th, so it could happen.

I agree

well..IT IS coming from a "journalist"...not some fan or OTHER..I think THAT is the difference.."Can't expect..."??? If one is putting it out there CLAIMING credibility I would THINK he would take teh time to AT LEAST be correct, especially with something so easy to know. Sorry...shame on him!! I liked him when he started out..since his return, he has fallen way short..even of how he was here before.

Actually Love whether he makes the 53 or the PSquad or not, has provided backup at NT..while Lewis has been playing the end positions..so really not true.

Box suggests IR-ing Pryor would be a surprise move given a hand injury, particularly one which was bad enough should have sent him to the ER immediately. However, it's all moot now that Lewis has been cut - I was keeping 7 DL due to depth concerns and there is now a spot for the annual undrafted surprise, "come on down" Kyle Love! You're the next undrafted on the Pats Are Right!

Let me try again then. Tweeting <> journalism; ergo Breer = notajournalist.

One might also point out that pencilneckgeek <> logician, but that would be finding humor in the wrong post.

Cunningham to IR

i disgused with this crap...should drafted a damn pass rusher every year .
kevin o connel was another POS pick. why cannot we draft 2-3 guys in 2 yrs span and improve the position beats me.

i see next year picks to be spend on DL and OLB
