From the sounds of it MCKenzie will be on the 53:

Catching up with ILB Tyrone McKenzie - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

As second-year inside linebacker Tyrone McKenzie spoke with reporters after Tuesday’s practice he grasped his helmet in his right hand.

Inside the helmet was the coach-to-defender communication device given to the leader of the defensive huddle, which likely reflects the large role McKenzie will be playing in the Patriots’ season finale against the Giants on Thursday.

If he were on the bubble BB wouldn't use him to communicate the d.

I always thought the suggestions of him getting cut were kind of ridiculous.

I'd say it's a clear sign of BB's confidence in him. Looks like he "gets it." Remember how often people would say how hard it is for a LB to grasp BB's defense?

Stay away from Chatroulette kid!:bricks:

One thing is for sure. There is less chance that McKenzie will be cut now that the NFL is investigating the Spikes video thing. If they sit him down for a few weeks, it would be nice to have McKenzie to fall back on.

Why would they sit him down for a past transgression???.. if they do this whole thing is getting ridiculous...

He was not bound by the moral code of the NFL when he was in college...

OTOH fully expected McKenzie to make this squad.

Agree on both points.

I can't believe Goodell is wasting his time with this. What's his agenda?

If Spikes was to be sat because of something in the past, shouldn't Reggie Bush get the same, for a much larger incident?

Isn't it strange that Patriots would have loved to have someone like McKenzie as the starting ILB when they had Monty Biesel and Chad Brown getting over powered ? Now the guy may not make the team because he is not good special teamer.

It's a good sign, but I imagine middle linebacker is the most likely position to receive the communicator because of where they are on the field. They're in a location where it's easy for them to relay the information to everyone on the defense.

So if they're planning on sitting Mayo/Spikes/perhaps Guyton for most of this game, McKenzie kind of becomes the default.

Still, better than if they gave it to Alexander or something ;)

All this indicates is that McK is gonna get a chance to play the position he was drafted for on Thursday which is simply what is to be expected, period. HOW he plays will factor into his fate. As a virtual rookie draft pick, he'd have to show either cluelessness, lethargy or physical inability with no projected upside to get cut.

I never understood why anyone thought we would get rid of him. No chance he makes it to PS. Besides, good ILB's in this defense are as hard to find as good DL's.

As with other posters....I think this is way...waaaayyyy out of school.....McKenzie will make the 53 and see a lot of action this year. Nothing to do with the Spikes video....that is a non issue really....Goodell must have received a cal from the Jesters to see if he could possibly find something to work the Pats over with....

Hmmm...lemme see, what team does this Spikes guy play for???
