Cool. So now we're back to our 2005-2006 "on the way out" status with the national media? Got it.

Actually no pressure is GOOD pressure

Re: MNF Gang (Gruden,Jaworski) predict the AFC East

Funny, I looked at ESPN the Magazine's preseason predictions and Jaws has the Pats winning the division and the Jets as a Wild Card. This is why I hate when analysts do predictions. Many of them predict out of both sides of their mouths.

Dan Marino was famous for this. He would pick one team to win on Inside the NFL and then the other on the CBS pregame show.

Re: MNF Gang (Gruden,Jaworski) predict the AFC East

Jaworski says less: "When you see this football team, they're going through a transition right now. You have Tom Brady. You have some mixing of the offensive line, per se. They've got to find themselves a couple young tight ends. It's going to take some time to assimilate those young guys in the offense."

WTF? Am I reading this wrong?

You bolded the wrong part:

Whether he'll be right about that is soon to be determined.

Ah.

I think that's a bit dubious as we haven't really been reliant on TE production for a while now, but whatever.

Apparently having young, unproven players at TE might be an issue for the Patriots, but having a young, unproven player at QB is no biggie for the Jets.

Tony Dungy does the same thing. I can't keep track of how many times he predicts something on the pre-game show, and then goes the other way on the half-time show.

They also don't mention the problems with the Revis negotiations and the possibility he won't be playing for a portion of the season.

Without Revis the Jets will have to rely on their front 3 and very questionable OLBs to be as good as they were last season.

No, he however missed the part where NY and Miami have glaring issues on OL are trying to find some young QB's and it takes a while to determine if they can ever consistently assimilate into an offense...

And of course they both had some issues and losses on D surface this off season, and appear to have some glaring questions about their ability to mount any offense in pre season, but why get into that...

After reading that quote; I am not even going to bother clicking the link :) I won't get that time back :)

Re: MNF Gang (Gruden,Jaworski) predict the AFC East

I guess those 3 haven't been watching the pre-season games. The Jets 1st string offense has been garbage.. Unless they clone Montana into a a Sanchez look-a-like, that team will be hard-pressed to win 8 games, let alone the division.

Now, that being said, has anyone watched the Miami games? How is their pass rush? Having lost Porter and Taylor, they are actually in a worse position at OLB than the Pats are... at least on paper.

Re: MNF Gang (Gruden,Jaworski) predict the AFC East

There is no way Jaws has actually watched any of the Jets pre-season games. He said that Holmes was a huge addition and will help out Sanchez. Unless Holmes can throw the ball, I don't see how he can help out Sanchez at all... I think if the Pats can get 11 wins, that will be good enough to win the division.

11 wins is my minimum expectation for this season.

Re: MNF Gang (Gruden,Jaworski) predict the AFC East

Jaws and Gruden are experts. They are not experts on teams. It's actually impossible to expect anyone to be adquately knowledgeable on 32 football teams.

Couple that with the "Manning is the GOAT" herd mentality and that's what happens.

Both are good game analysts. However, thinking they have any insight comparable to Mo or Jack or most of this board is absurd.

Actually, even the Douche Awry contributes more useful insight then they can.

Seriously I think this division is so tight that even 10,maybe even 9 wins can win this division ..I would be surprised if any team wins this division by more than 1 game and would not be surprised at all to see a tiebraking situation like 2008 to determine the East champ.

Their pass rush has been non existent and they have a bunch of questions on both lines.

Re: MNF Gang (Gruden,Jaworski) predict the AFC East

Call me a homer...but I like the Pats POTENTIAL with their young kids on Offense (Tate,Edelman,Gronk,Hernandez,Vollmer)

and Defense( Brace,Spikes,Chung,Butler,McCourty)...

They should be well integrated by the time November rolls around.:rocker:

And if he's struggled with him in preseason how the heck will be help him in the first month of the season when they play Baltimore and three division teams while he's on suspension... And people forget when these guys are on suspension they can't even be on team property, which is why Ben is hogging the snaps in Pittsburgh this pre season...

I think they are also assuming LaDanian will maintian that adreneline based trade fueled bounce in his step through the first month...and beyond, because if he doesn't they may be really screwed. The rookie RB isn't looking any more special than the rookie OG...

The JETS lost a lot of veteran leaders this off season and another one this pre season. Their most talented player period is holding out with no end in sight. They've added a lot of formerly inconsistent or aging diva's to the mix, many of whom have a history of negative leadership (which is why they were available). But Rex is a hoot and everyone wants to play for him...until the losses start piling up and he has his patented meltdown. This year they may not have a core to save themselves when that happens. They will all be too busy sulking or pointing fingers under the critical glare of the NY/NJ media horde. Sanchez is going to remain a boom or bust QB they struggle to manage since pulling broken plays out of his ass is both his strong suit and his weakness. And they may not have enough elsewhere on the roster to even attempt to rein him in with traffic light playcalling this season. The entire outfit is an emotional tinderbox.

The Dolphins have Marshall, but aside from the drops he also suffers when his QB can't find him. Henne has a strong arm, what he lacks is touch and accuracy. They have to rely on the ground game a lot which is tough to do when your OL isn't set on the eve of the season and the fascination with wildcat has run it's course.

We all face the same schedule, only the Dolphins and Bill's face it in inverse. NE and the JETS face the toughest opponents outside the division at home, Miami has to face them on the road.

But aside from that, it makes perfect sense to assume a team with Brady and Belichick will falter because it's not like over the last decade they've dominated the division and won with less or anything.

Re: MNF Gang (Gruden,Jaworski) predict the AFC East

After Sports illistrated predicted that Miami would win it all in '06 i stopped listening to any of these people. Oh BTW i think Miami came in fourth that year.
