This one will be, I believe, Boston's first UFC event? I hope some of you locals go to it! Should be a decent card, though I probably won't be able to watch it as I'll be hopefully traveling!

My predictions for the main card:

Nate Diaz vs Marcus Davis (WW)
I have to give this one to Davis. I'm not sold on Diaz's move to WW yet. Whooping up on a fat Markham doesn't impress me. I think this fight has the potential to be finished on the feat or the ground by either fighter, but I think Davis wears down Diaz and takes the split decision.

Kenny Florian vs Gray Maynard (LW)
Here is a tough one for me. Kenflo is coming off a staph infection and it seems that fighters never come back at 100%. I think this fight stays standing and goes to Maynard in a unanimous decision.

Demian Maia vs Mario Miranda (MW)
Gee, um, Maia by submission? I've never seen Miranda fight and know very little about him, but I am guessing the UFC is throwing this fight to Maia as a way to show fans that he's a good fighter after his embarrassment at the hands of Silva.

Randy Couture vs James Toney (HW)
Oh god, oh god. This is going to be painful to watch. Either some old dude knocks out another old dude and then proceeds to talk **** that he's the greatest, or an old dude takes down another old dude and either lays on him for 3 rounds or wears him out (likely) by the 2nd round and gets an easy submission. I'm going Couture by 2nd round submission.

Frankie Edgar vs BJ Penn (LW) (Championship)
Their original fight was on during the stretch of time where AFN was down so I didn't get to see the fight, but I read about it and it sounded like BJ wasn't at 100%. If BJ is giving 100% effort, no lightweight will beat him. Luckily for Edgar (and other lightweights) BJ is a lazy SOB. However, I would suspect that losing his belt motivated him for this fight and there is no way Edgar gets a repeat. The biggest question for me is how will it finish. After a long debate with myself (seriously, I debated myself for like 10 minutes) I am going with a 3rd round TKO win for Penn. (though I wouldn't be suprised to see this go to a decision win for Penn either as Edgar is a tough dude)

My predictions always suck but here they go....
Edgar uses his speed and footwork to out-strike Penn winning in similar fashion.
Randy Coture defeats james toney by TKO round 1, randy will find a way to get this fight to the ground before Toney can land. I see Coture clinching immediately if he isn't able to complete his intial shot and working Toney to the ground.
Gray Maynard beats Kenflo by UD or KO. Gray has heavy hands and a good chin, bad combination for Kenny who will look to keep the fight standing. Either Gray just totally dominates this fight with his wrestling or Kenny outboxes him for a decision victory himself.
Miranda can hold his own on the ground but Maia has an advantage there so I don't see Mario going to the ground at all. Maia's striking is still rudimentary at best and I see Mario sprawling and brawling his way to a Decision.
Nate Diaz defeats Marcus davis by lighting him up using a 6 inch reach advantage and he tags and submits Davis who I think is on the wrong end of the peak.

If James Toney makes it out of Round One, I'd be impressed.

New I shouldn't have went with Miranda
I was right on with the Diaz, Maynard and Edgar fights though!

That Penn/Edgar fight was fantastic, mostly because it was so surprising to see someone dominate BJ so much, especially in rounds 1 and 2. To take BJ down twice in ONE ROUND is something unthinkinable at lightweight. Edgar's foorwork, speed, and determination were unreal, you can tell he worked hard and wanted to silence his critics.

And man were we yelling when Couture beat Toney. I'm so glad he shut that moron up.

Very spot on! I did not think BJ would be dominated. Those Diaz bothers really use that reach.
