Jermaine Cunningham...Who?

Re: Jermaine Cunningham...Who ?

How is assessing his play exxagerated?
I watched him play, and assessed how he did. What I saw was:
-He manhandled the guy across from him consistently
-He played off of the 2 gap technique effectively, found the ball, and moved effectively to it to make plays
-He OFTEN drove his man back in a bull rush and disrupted the pocket

Im not talking about stats. I am talking about how he played the position.

If you chose to think that discussing the fact that he dominated the guy across from him means that he is the second coming of Richard Seymour, that is you that are doing the exxagerating which is just what I am saying.
I said he played great. You said saying he is Richard Seymour is exxagerating. You created an exxagerated version of what was said then called it exxagerating. Get it?

I could care less what an uninformed opinion of him was.
Does it really matter that some moron said cut him because he is out of shape when he is on the field playing now?

I am basin my opinion on what he has done on the field. What an internet crybaby said when he was injured is irrelevant.

You seem to be acting as if every comment ever made on this board was made by one person who can't make up their mind.

You serious bro? Every point you have made has been an exaggeration. Such as "He manhandled him" or "he had a tremendous game." Your getting upset that I called you out for exagerating Ron Brace's play and I did this by comparring him to richard seymour. Get it?

Someone had better build some cred here before judging another poster..... :bricks:

Re: Jermaine Cunningham...Who ?

One bad game and people go off the deep end. Preseason 2004, 3rd game, Cincy, Pats lost 31-3 and had probably their most dominant team that year. Let's see what happens before we declare the sky is falling.

cincy was actually the 2nd game in the 2004 preseason. We got our butts kicked again in the 3rd preseason to Carolina, I think. We went 1-3 in the preseason that year.

Re: Jermaine Cunningham...Who ?

I guess, but its getting really, really bad.
I challenge anyone to find positive (other than obvious i.e. Brady) comments or optimism posted on this board that isnt responded to with people insultng, belittling or calling it biased.
The nature of this board has become a watchdog to trounce any optimism as blind homerism.

I'd like to see Cunningham play pretty soon. I don't see a reasonable replacement for AD, even though his play was pretty bad last year. I have some hope for Murrell I guess but I really wanna see Cunningham after watching some of his YouTubes.

FWIW I'm a full metal nub here, yet when I posted a positive comment in the 12 draft picks on the roster thread over on the draft board, nobody flamed me. Maybe I'm just getting ignored, or nobody goes over there, but it doesn't feel that way.

Simple end all for the discussion is compare his play in the two preseason games vs. the play in the regular season where he was clearly out of his league and thrown to the wolves in a time of need. By his own own words his problems were acclimation to the system and readiness- two things that from watching the preseason games he clearly has overcome to the point that he could be in the mix to contribute to the team in more ways than just depth.

Re: Jermaine Cunningham...Who ?

I think that by asking him to be the awnser to the pass rush is more of a pipe dream.. I just keep getting the feelin he will be like Crable a guy that looked to have promise never came to fruition.. Now not saying 2 years from now he will be a stud, but I think if we are pinning our hopes this year to this rookie, your in for a dissapointment..

Crable never played a down in the regular season, Brace has. Comparing the two isn't even within reason when one never suited up in the regular season.

Um im comparing Cunningham, not Brace..

Re: Jermaine Cunningham...Who ?

Yes one week he was an out of shape bum, the next hes the savior. Lets see him play a few real games. I know i thought at the begining of TC i thought that he could be a wast of a pick, but i and a lot of others thought he had flunked the Conditioning test and that he wasn't motivated. It turned out it was the Physical that he flunked...big difference. he had to pass the Physical to take the Conditioning test.

I never understood the whole "conditioning test" thing. He's more trimmed down now than he was at any point last year.

Sorry was caught up in a Brace moment...I retract.

I'll change what I meant to this: Crable earned his infamy after two seasons, this is Cunningham's first preseason and traing camp- we need to hold off on comparing the two until he is actually out for the year or hasn't played a down in the NFL.

All indications are that he isn't that badly injured, this could be a Brace situation where he could just be held out of the preseason games to rest the injury and be back in time for the regular season...

Blame it on Ian Rappaport and his assumptions about Brace...he mistook failing the physical which you have to pass to take the test to mean he failed the test.

Someone posted a picture of him from January and one from June or early July...night and day, a clear loss of at least 20 pounds of flab.

How hard is it for a ROOKIE to suddenly be in the spotlight after missing the preseason and some camp?...extremely hard to do,thats how hard it is.

Expect Cunningham to be a guy the Pats use in games that are blowouts one way or the other or forced on the field with an injury to Burgess,Nincovich or whoever is opposite Cain - I see him being used very sparingly in 2010

I know you are on a "rookies = bad" trend today but even you have to see that a 2nd round draft pick that was practicing with the 1st and 2nd team defense before his injury isn't going to get used "sparingly".

Unless his injury is bad enough that they want to handle him with kid gloves going into the year and someone else is doing well enough to justify keeping them ahead of him he will contribute a lot to the defense more than "sparingly"
