Get betta soon Ron!

A sack and seven tackles!? Wow. Awesome.

This is great news. Hold him out of the last preseason game and throw the man at the Bengals' O-Line Week 1.

He has gone from being a bust to being our best DE.

You are our only hope ron brace

As someone who did not bash Brace it now amazes me that one pre-season game against a pitiful opponent and now he's proven to be worthy of the 2nd round. Way premature.

"Hopefully what we saw the other night was a sign of things to come."

Precisely my feelings as a fan.

Three weeks ago, the majority of poster wanted to cut Brace. He has made zero tackles in a regular season game since then. I am just glad to seem him able to play some DE. You can win a bet by aksing "who is the slowest DE in the nfl?".

Seriously, it is good to have Brace in the mix. We know have two young backups from last year's draft.

Typically I agree 100% with the dont jump to conclusions approach.
But, in this case, its not one game, its 2, he was just as goodin week 2.
But most importantly is watching him play the position. He is phyiscally manhandling the guy across from him. On top of that he is aware and mobile (for a 320 lb DL).
I don't have to see too many plays of a 2 gap DL physically dominating a blocker to know he belongs and will be a very good player, if he stays healthy and is in shape to be able to do it long term.
Providing those 2 qualifiers, Brace will, this season, play at a level consistent with what we are used to seeing out of our DEs. He looked THAT good in those 2 games that I can conclude this so quickly. I have not been so excited about what I see in a player in preseason translating onto the field in the regular season in a long time. Brace has been way better in these 2 games (and I am talking about playing the position, not stats) than my highest expectations of him, and I expect 2nd round picks to be pretty damn good.

Mg, please go back and focus on his play. I am telling you right now, this guy is our starting DE. In both games he physically owned the blocker across from him. Watch him then watch any other DL on the team, and see the difference.
I focussed on him when he was in there, so I saw the one on one battle, and he flat out dominated it.

Also, posters wanting to cut him 3 weeks means less than nothing.

I look forward to seeing Brace, evolve into a force god knows it be great to see a combo of Brace, Pryor, Richard, Deaderick, Weston start to take strides in becoming solid defensive lineman. Which may not bode well for Ty Warrens future depending on the results. To those posters who say what Warren the poor guy is injured I have 2 words Richard Seymour.

For me, playing one dominating game against one of three worst teams in football is not enough to anoint Brace as the starter. For me, he needs to show more to start in place of Warren and Wright. However, the real convincing is on the Practice field. We will see who starts against Cinci. I suspect that we will see Warren and Wright.

Finally, this is a great debate to be having. We have lost Seymour and Ty Warren and seem to be solid at DE.

While I always thought it was way too early to call Brace a bust, I never thought he'd be our day 1 starter at DE. Considering he got into camp late due to injury or conditioning, was a bit behind everyone else, plus coming off a lackluster first season, I was hoping he'd eventually work his way into the DL rotation.

The last few weeks have exceeded all of my expectations and I'm really glad to hear it's not a serious injury. He looks like he'll be a definite contributor this season, and we'll need him after Ty went down.

I was at the game on thursday and focused on him for a drive and he definitely seemed to be winning his individual battles, made a tackle or two on the drive. And at one point it seemed like a run was heading right at him and he seemed ready to stuff it and it cutback the other way unfortuanately it was successful play but Brace seemed almost beastly on the play.

Now I might not go as far as you are going as to how good he could be but you may have a better eye than me.

I would like to take this moment to toot my own horn and point out that when I first saw him in TC last year the thing that struck me was that he looked more like Big Sey than Big Vince (length and long arms compared to sout fire plug) and I thought maybe he is a 3-4 DE more than a NT.

I said solid.

I didn't say that we had the best 3-4 DL as we had in the past.

The defensive line is no longer the major strength of the defense, but it is also not the huge weakness it could have been with Ty Warren being injured.

+1. Trust your eyes, he's doing a job out there.

The relentless lies and bull for a month led me to believe he was barely ambulatory.

Believe what you see.

So wait, it's okay jump on Brace and call him a bust, but you bring out the Jump to Conclusions map when people say he'll be good? Or are you making fun of the people who said he would suck?

Neither Wright nor Warren can hold up against the run. Brace couldn't get on the field last year and now, after an exhibition game in which he was about the only player who showed up, he's supposed to be the solution to both end positions?

i agree he is no starter yet but if he can play he will give some dept to a weak D line that will need as many bodys as they can get
