Last nights game seemed like the players were unemotional and not playing hard....to me getting pushed around by the worst team in football a year ago made me think the team was somehow trying to win the game but did not really show any concern about doing that...to me they played to get some time in as starters but really did not pull a full out effort in the game.

Is this game a game to be concerned about? or Meh,its just a preseason game to get some work in and try not to play too hard to avoid injury?

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

I am concerned about two things. Depth on the D-line and the PASS RUSH!
I know that it's only preseason but those two areas concern me the most. Now, I don't expect the performance that we saw last night to be the norm. However, I expect this defense to struggle early on. BB is relying on a lot of young guys to get things done. It doesn't help that Ty Warren is gone for the year either. The offense will have to carry us. I think that they can.

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

Most teams (and I'm assuming the Pats as well) use the 3rd game of preseason as a final and primary preparation for the regular season...Starters get the most playing time that they are going to see by game 3.....game 4 of the preseason is for final roster spots and a little fine tuning...

So based on what happened on defense last night...Yup, I'm a little concerned.

Somehow, BB will have everyone of them playing for a roster spot next week and last nights showing will be a non-factor on week 1 of the regular season....

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

I chose not concerned, but I am somewhere in the middle. I am concerned about several things, but I am not in any type of panic.

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

My one thing I was most concerned with was when there was a pass rusher in the Rams QBs face,RARILY last night was there anyone else around the tackler to help out or finish the job...if this holds up in the regular season than that ONE player who gets close to the QB better not miss or we will be seeing 50 yard passes completed on a routine basis.

This is pretty much where I am.

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

They haven't won anything in the last 5 years. Why should we be concerned now?

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

I voted for option 1. However "it's a pre-season game" would have been enough without "the playing not to get hurt", which I do not believe to be the case.

Most of the problems last night were assignment related and some technique. These are correctable and will be corrected.

Even though the Rams were the worst team in the NFL last year, this is a new year. They are all professional football players with professional coaches. They will take advantage of any blown assignment or confusion as any other team will.

Co-signed.

Yup

I am however disappointed that the O was so inconsistent in their few series.

And moderately concerned that the D wasn't building off their 1st 2 games performances. Lack of improvement by #28 this year concerns me the most amoung the DBs. Didn't expect much more from #24 whose seen his best days here. Hope #22 isn't perennially injured, if still on the team.

I agree, saw some real good things game #1 and #2, less so last night.. is it a trend or is it a freak thing..

What he said. Need that middle option next time.

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

I'm concerned about a few things, but the secondary stuff in particular was fixable. I just hope Brace is okay.

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

Let's have a history lesson the the preseason:
The detriot lions in 2007 went 4-0 in the preseason.
In 2008, Matt Cassel's preseason stats were 19 for 34 0 Tds 1 int << did anyone have him making the 53 that year?

The point is the preseason means nothing. I'm actually glad they lost in a meaningless game. It gives the entire team something to build on going into week 1. The Pats are the best team in the league coming off a loss.

Re: Last nights game...Concerned or Not?

Not worried. First of all the Rams are a much better team, we were probably taking it easy for them.

Secondly brady looked like his old self in the comeback drive.

We were way down but almost won the game...take heart.

Detroit was 4-0 in 2008....NOT 2007

For those of you who forgot...The 2005 Colts went 0-5 in the preseason and looked HORRIBLE..
yes, that SAME 0-5 team went 13-0 before losing a regular season game that SAME year...preseason means squat - key players are NOT going all out IMO,they are out there to get some action and experience in real games and could really care less who wins IMO

I don't know how Vegas can ever make odds for these crapshoot games, last night the Rams looked like Super Bowl contenders..I doubt they win 6 games in 2010

I feel that they went into last nights game without preparing for the Rams. I believe that the preparation is more geared to game vs Bengals. Feel that Belichick used this to see how players and coaches can adapt to something unknown

What's most concerning in pre season losses like this is the potential for extra dumbery from Mey Blo and the other resident clowns.

WHAT UP? threads and input from the numbnuts.

I knew a moron like you wouldn't know what I'm talking about.

My expectations for this team has been pretty low for the last several seasons.
