I read the other day that Jest were offering $120million over 10 years; but Revis wanted $160million, and that is where the main problem was.

Re: Revis Signing?

To be fair to Cowlishaw, when enough idiot leaks out of your brain into your ear canal, "Gostkowski" could be misinterpreted as "Revis".

Re: Revis Signing?

Schefter has sent out a tweet asking the Twitter world to find him as he's not been seen.

Re: Revis Signing?

Hmmm. I'm usually all over these forums like stink on **** and I haven't seen any news of a Revis signing. Are you sure you didn't confuse the Mangold signing?

Did you read the comments in that link?

I am amused by this one: "Thank you for spitting in the eye of Jet fans..Jet fans been suffering for 40 years and are on the verge of getting into the Superbowl and you just spit in our faces.... thanks.... "

Wow...didn't realize how fast the season flew...

Edit: I hope Revis signs soon and we thump them still.

Sorry, didn't have a "facetious" icon. My bad.

That's silly. All he has to do is look in the mirror.

Now Cowlishaw is saying he meant sometime this week.

We'll see.

The reported numbers seem unreal.. and wonder how the Jets will afford a whole team, if they invest this much in a CB.. there are more than 3 skill positions..

LOL. Yeah, there are only 18 games in their way.

I know Jets fans haven't rooted for a team that truly mattered in some time - but it will be good for them to get a taste of going through a season with high expectations. It can be a burden - on a team, and on fans. The Patriots team is mentally tough enough to deal with it. It's fanbase has gotten used to it. I doubt either the Jets team or fans is.

I think Mike Florio is right in that the dispute isn't about the total money, but the guaranteed money. If you look at both Mangold's and Ferguson's deals and neither have significant money guaranteed until next year and neither are all that protected if they have a significant injury (Mangold is protected from a career ending injury, but not one that might degrade his talent for the rest of his career or season ending much like Elvis Dumervil). I think Revis wants $40 something million guaranteed with none of this guaranteed for injury, but not performance crap.

I am surprised either Ferguson or Mangold signed those contracts. I guess it was out of fear that there might not be a 2011 season and it is better to get a few million more now or they assume the new CBA will drive down top salaries. I can't see Revis agreeing to it and it appears from reports that is the type of contract the Jets offered.

I think Revis has more leverage than them even with three years left on his contract. The Jets want to win now and Revis is a huge part of their defense. They will need to either give him $15-20 million just to play this year and promise not to pick up his option or cave to his demands to get him back. The guy has already given up his option years being guaranteed and having this season vested towards his pension and years to free agency. That is a lot to give up to all the sudden cave to the Jets.

Here in NYC, over the last few days there was a big buzz that The Jets were pushing to get Revis signed by the 3rd episode of Hard Knocks so they could, at least, tack it onto the end of the episode as an added feature.
Then yesterday afternoon, all those rumors were quelled as being just that, rumors.
There was a lot of buzz though. WFAN is almost "all Revis talk, all the time" down here.
Especially Joe Beningo, that blue collar mustached extraordinaire who starts every verbal reply to a caller with "Bro...."

************, talk about GOONtown.

Well, that's marginally better than "Cousin"

Ugh. C'mon another Jets thread?! He'll be there week 2. What we can hope for is that he'll be a little Rusty.

It's Friday. Where in the world is Revis' signing?
