There are many within the Colts 'family' that believe the Colts had discovered gold in 5th round draft pick Brdy Eldridge...many articles express the feelings of this one..Rookie TE Eldridge proves to be quite a catch | IndyStar.com | The Indianapolis Star

It will be interesting between the biggest rivals of the Pats to see if the Colts did find the best TE out of the 2010 draft or if the Pats made the better selection.

Eldridge has looked good in the two preseason games for the Colts so he wins the offseason TE draftee at this time, but the real season starts in 3 weeks so we shall see if Hernandez/Gronkowski show us better play.

That's ALL we need. The SB contending COLTS improving via late round picks as often has been the case.

You don't think that Gronk and Hernandez looked good?

Edit: Just read the article to see just how good this guy looked that you rate him over Gronk and Hernandez.

Eldridge has been the blocker the Colts expected. He has also caught four passes for 44 yards in two preseason games and looked good doing it.

Yeah, fine. Good for him. I'll stick with our two, thanks.

Wouldn't surprise me. By most accounts Bill Polian is despicable, but he's also among the all-time great draft talent evaluators. Year-after-year they ignore free agency and just sit in their draft spot and pick good players. He should go into the HOF. Damn him.

He might be a nice player, but Gronk and Hernz are going to battle for Rookie of the Year, with McCourty and Spikes.

Imagine if this kid turns out to be another of Polian's superstar draft picks out of nowhere....If he does prove to be a top blocker Peyton will have a 6th offensive lineman to give him even more time and if he turns out to be a bonafide receiver imagine the 2 TE set of Dallas Clark and Eldridge on the field at the same time..if he does both well the Colts will be one tough S.O.B. to stop on offense

Luckily, there's one for each side of the ball, so Gronk and Hern(andez) the Hunter only have to battle each other, and McCourty only has to beat out Spikes. ;)

The Colts have shown in the past they know how to draft and how to uncover value, so I guess this latest news shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.

I like my version better. ;)

.... all regular season long

I think Hernandez looks promising...I haven't seen enough of Gronkowski yet

Please quote where they say they found the best tight end in the draft?

Best blocking? Well he was an offensive lineman just last year.

You need to read the articles before making the thread title.

There are more than just this article about the kid but I am not going to post 20 articles in one thread to make my point...this was just an example of excitement over a new TE on their team just like there is excitement over our new TEs,there is good reason to believe that both teams will be better in 2010 with thier new receivers/blockers but one team may luck out,we shall see.

That was quite the run-on sentence.

Lots of teams have landed the best player, sometimes proven and sometimes not, but it doesn't make or break a team. I don't know if Gronk and Hernandez are better but they fit in here pretty nicely. The coaches here aren't too bad either. We'll manage somehow I'm sure:p

This really doesn't surprise me much. Polian, for how much of a douche he is, knows how to draft. His stats don't jump out at you and I haven't actually seen a Colts preseason game, but I'm sure he'll be a solid option for Manning. With that said, though, I'll still take our two.
