Will reportedly make him the highest paid center in the league. Of course the devil will be in the details, and according to the NYDaily News Jets beat reporter while $24M is guaranteed in the 7 year $55M deal - there is risk being assumed by both the player and the team in some sort of compromise approach proposed and worked out over the weekend. Of course in order for that to happen Mangold had to be on board and his agent had to be engaged and motivated to get a deal done...and they had to be willing to find or consider a compromise that worked for both sides... The JETS also likely were motivated to do this deal to send a message to Revis who is in day 24 of his holdout. They say Harris will not get his deal this year, however.

It will be interesting to see what level of guarantee really exists in the deal. If it's rolling guarantees again it isn't really guaranteed.

How the Nick Mangold contract negotiations were resurrected

This $ deal will only serve to enrage Logan further.

mankins ain't your usual football player.

he has saved almost all of his money and is already set for life.

maybe it comes down to the simple notion that mankins doesn't want to be here

I just read about Mankins being self sufficent

But he'll never make, in 6 year span, what an NFL team will give him..

That being said, maybe he does want to be closer to his ranch or some other outside force is pulling him or maybe he just doesn't want to play here anymore.. But at some point, before the start of the season, I hope he's signed or traded.

I love impartiality and the "wonderful" PR job you've tried to do for Mankins on this board Frank.

I am impartial. just looking at things for what they are worth.

you as well as many other pats yahoos are the ones who are far from impartial.

maybe he doesn't care about the money. you know, there are people like that. maybe he's driven by principle and was actually lied to and decided 'screw em, i hate these guys'

I don't see why this deal would enrage Mankins. It should get him to sign.

The last year will be padded, as all such deals are. This is below the Evans deal.

This is more in line with what the Patriots offered Mankins, and I don't care what anyone says, these two players are equals in my book. You can't convince me one is better than the other.

You aren't impartial.. Far from it.. Your bias against Pats fans make's you very partial.

Yes, but maybe it was his AGENT that lied to him and not the Patriots. Did your bias ever let you stop and think about that? NO. It didn't.

As for Mankins being driven by principle, it was clear from the reports that came out that the offer to Mankins would have EASILY "taken care of him". So, this idea that the Pats didn't try and do that is BS.

That's right. Blame everybody else for looking at both sides of the spectrum and coming to their own conclusion as opposed to coming onto a Patriots board and blasting the Patriots business operations and supporters whilst sucking on Mankins teat.

I've told you before that I'm all for retaining Mankins if the deal is reasonable and fair to both sides. It's not my fault you're an idiot and can't understand that.

So its not about the "Money" cause he has some, then why doesn't he come in. If he has enough money than he can afford not to to be paid like the best guard in foot ball, which hes not.

if Mankins has alredy made a nuff money then why would he be crying that the pats only offerd him 6 million per year and he wants 8 million

he has only made 2 and half million per year on he's rookie contract so if he is set for life with 2 million then why is 6 million a slap in the face for him ?

Maybe that is the case.. I believe at this point the Pats FO knows his position and are either

1. waiting for some other team to initiate a call to them (maybe the other teams OL needs to be sured up or someone went down and is going to the IR) and in this case like what you said "he hates them" and the Pats are trying to get max value for him

2. Pats FO knows they have all the cards and will wait it out.. Money talks and BS walks..

Either way, I'll be shocked if he's still sitting at home in a couple of weeks.

I hope I'm wrong and Logan plays for Patriots again...whether it's just for this year or longer...but I don't see it given the percieved bad blood between him and Kraft.

Best scenario other than a long term contract...Get a player or draft pick for him if possible.

Good Luck in the future Mr. Mankins

If Mankins were all about principle, then he wouldn't publicly complain about top-3 guard pay. If money is a factor, then it can't be about principle. You have to pick one or the other, and he's complaining about both.

This is awesome. Mangold comes to camp, works hard, gets paid. Mankins sits home and whines through his agent and friends and gets nothing. Its a good day.

Great for the Jets as well in regards to Revis. Makes Revis and his band of idiots look even worse.
