I'm ambivalent on this one: on the one hand, it would be great to see Welker out there in live action if they plan on playing him Week 1; on the other, it might be an unnecessary injury risk.

The rebuttal to the latter, of course, is that Welker got hurt on a non-contact play which easily could have happened in practice.

I think with Welker I'll be nervous no matter what. If he's not out there playing, then I'll be thinking he's still too hurt to play. If he is out there playing, I'll be cringing every time I see him turn on a dime.

It'll be interesting to see what he can do. But it's amazing that he is even in consideration to play when most people with the same injury will be just starting their rehab.

In all seriousness though, were the Patriots attempting to get Welker killed last night, or did they forget that last night's game was his first one back, since reconstructive surgery on his knee? How about easing the guy in, just incase his knee is still a little tender? Obviously they know better than I do, but I was a little surprised at the situations they put him in, so early in his time back.
