Even Terrence Wheatley and Wilhite is fine by me... Wheatley and 6th would be better even.

It will give us a true power running back since Corey Dillon, i would like to see him as a Pat... he is even younger by a couple of years than Dillon was when we traded a 2nd for him.

We actually have too many corners. One or two will have to get cut, so might as well trade a player and get something out of it.

I wouldn't mind making this trade and then cutting both BJGE and Morris. With Maroney and McGahee as two younger more durable backs, we don't need the extra back in case of an injury to Taylor. Frees up a spot for an extra LB or DL, and you're right, if Wilhite might be on his way out anyway, it makes sense for us.

Of course, I'm not convinced that Wilhite is done improving, and even so I'm not sure he's what Baltimore is looking for in a corner.

I would consider it. We haven't seen enough of Morris or Taylor to know if they have anything left. McGahee would be a good power runner to counter Maroney's style in a RBBC approach.

I wouldn't do it unless I saw dominance from Butler and emergence from McCourty or Wheatley. Wilhite was our second most active CB last year despite his poor play. (Springs and Butler tied for third.) Wilhite departing leaves Bodden, Butler, and either Wheatley or McCourty at CB. That's not nearly enough depth. Also, Wilhite may develop further.

Meanwhile, although McGahee is historically a strong runner, he's on the middle to tail end of his career, currently running as depth behind Ray Rice. And he may be a locker room malcontent, especially if he's riding behind LoMo and Faulk. He has some wear 'n' tear too. I imagine McGahee would likely replace Taylor whom I liked until he got hurt last year. Can't see him being that much better than Taylor, and he'll make $3.6M this year.

I like LoMo + Taylor/BJGE more than I like LoMo + McGahee and having to chase for another CB.

Vets that are getting passed on the depth chart find another position or find the exit sooner rather than later. Both have been jumped by at least one and possibly two players this offseason. Don't leave arse-prints when the door hits you on the way out.

That's funny (and I agree). Let me amend my answer: I don't want McGahee, Sanders or Wilhite.

Is McGahee really that much of an upgrade over Maroney? Maroney would run like crazy behind that Baltimore OL. He's shown that if there's a hole, he can be productive and has enough speed to break big runs. McGahee IMO has lost the top speed he showed in college after that gruesome injury, although he still has enough speed to break long runs, but Maroney has the same type of speed so I think that's a wash. McGahee last year handled the goal line runs for the Ravens, much like Maroney did for us (and both were successful for the most part.)

It seems like every year we have to call on practice squad CBs to fill in regularly because of injuries, it's nice to know we have a 5 CBs that we can count on.

Wheatley is an enigma. Wilhite is a good guy who tries hard, but is limited.

Sanders is a solid player. He just makes some plays that defy explanation. He will take a Mr. Magoo tackling angle on several plays a year and the result is a long gain that was completely unnecessary. You can accept that at DE since there are multiple layers of defense behind you to clean up. You just can't do that at safety for a team where a single play could be the difference between HFA and a road game to Indy or SD in the playoffs.

Needing Sanders to stabilize the defense is more of an indictment of McGowan than an endorsement of Sanders. If McGowan doesn't get back to the level he showed early last year, expect Sergio to be roaming the secondary at some point this year.

No, McGahee would struggle mighily behind our O Line. His yards are a product of the good work his O line does.

In the words of BB, you can never have enough good DB's. Anybody remember Troy Brown having to play DB? BB will keep all seven, even if he has to cut Crumpler and go with just two TE's.
