Could OG Simmons be yet another steal?

If he can even make the team this year he should be considered a steal. Every other team passed on him.

What next?

Edward Scissorhands opposite Randy Moss?

Tim Bowens had just 3 toes on his left foot, yet he was a two time pro bowler along the defensive line. Tom Dempsey didn't have any toes on his right foot, yet he holds the record for the NFL's longest field goal. If Simmons can overcome the foot issues, more power to him.

Absolutely. I'm sure there'll be a lot of folks rooting for him. At least there'll be a bunch on this board.

I'm a huge Sooner fan (Live about 6 miles from OU campus) and Simmons is a solid player. Is he a star? Probably not. Does he have the ability, and talent to be a solid reserve lineman? I think yes. He came in on the line and did a great job in multiple positions. If we could get that kind of role from him it would be a solid pickup. I've got my fingers crossed for him.

Yup and I'm one!

P.S. I used to live in Bath! You work at BIW? I worked in Lewiston for a guitar maker there. I lived on Oliver street in bath. Beautiful country up there.

make me a Patriot guitar with red ,white and blue inlays...:idea2:

I have to think that this is either one of two things. Its either desperation and they are trying to look under every rock for quality depth. I doubt this is the case.

Or they are just trying to find some potential long term projects for them to work on. I see the best case scenario for this kid being the practice squad, at least for this year.

Practice squad sounds good to me. One would think that little chance he would be snatched from PS -after all teams passed on him as a UDFA and on the NFL medical reject list. While you just know that by placing some of our lower round draft picks (Weston, Deaderick, Larsen, ) on the PS would result in them being snatched by Cle, Den, Atl, Jets, etc).

This is something that is extremely close to me and I have dealt with this for the last 7 years....My wife was born with 2 club feet.....This is extremely rare for a female to have 2 club feet something like a 1% chance or something.....Anyways she has had about 10 surgeries on each foot that I know of from the time she was an infant until last year......She is 26 years old and can walk/function fine.....She has lost some range of motion in her ankles but it's not huge......

Her last set of surgeries was performed at John's hopkins by one of the top foot doctors in the country.....He said after a while there is only so much they can do and then they start fusing the bones together in the foot.....It allows you to function/walk fine but you just have a little loss of range of motion.....The one thing is though, there will ALWAYS be pain....The doctor said you can limit the pain by staying off your feet but that's about it......

So my take on the situation is this guy is probably at the point where they won't/can't do any more surgeries to improve his foot so he probably just has pain/swelling after each practice.....As long as he can deal with this I don't see this being something to slow him down....Plus if he has already played D-1 college football with this issue then he is a dedicated guy with a great work ethic so he could be a solid pickup......
