Having seen the exciting new players in action once now, I'll be looking closest at the interior line backups who haven't seen much time in year's past.

Brace, Deaderick, Love, Weston (he's big but I didn't notice his play last week)

Wendell, OBurger, Ghiaciuc, Larsen (and can Connolly keep it up).

It's time to see who might have a role on the team filling in behind the losses of Warren and Mankins. Who can steady the line against Atlanta's running game? Who can provide interior pass rush? Can Larsen and Ghiaciuc, who looked lost last week, put in a better showing? Can someone open a hole for whoever handles the ball in the 2nd half?

On ST, I mostly want to see who gets the first-team reps.

Most of all, I'll be glad to see the Pats play again. Even after the offeason, a week is such a long time.

I really want to see our third pick in the draft, Jermaine Cunningham. But that's not going to happen - damnit.

My eyes will once again be focused on the D-Line. In particular: Brace, Gerard Warren, Damione Lewis, and Deaderick. The last of those names I thought looked pretty decent in the first Thursday night game. Sure he has quite a bit to build on, but if he keeps working hard, he may just have a starting DE of the future.

Agree with everyone so far. Lots to watch.

To the above I'll add: Tate and Price; tight end blocking; special teams -- Sergio Brown (my brain keeps expecting me to type 'Kindle' after 'Sergio') and Zoltan. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the Brady-to-Hernandez stuff I keep reading about in camp, but I'd be surprised if BB showcased that much in pre-season games.

Also the RB situation-- there was some talk that the Pats were focusing on one RB per week as featured back, so who does what with momentum. we'll see.

I'll be watching Bracve, Pryor, Richard, Deadrick and Weston closest. It would be outstanding if one or two of these guys can break the rotation and even push for a starter's role. It would provide the team outstanding flexibility heading into next offseason to not have a gaping hole on the line.

Tate, Price, Hernandrz, Gronk...all the future of the offense. Will be watching closely all year.

On the other side, I'll be watching Sean Weatherspoon, Falcons' #1 pick.

ninkovich. He could be seeing a lot of time at OLB. Woods, I've always felt he has the size and potential. Just needs playing time.

Brace, this could be his break out.

I second that, I was really hoping this guy would be in there kicking butt like Spikes and McCourty. I hope he gets back soon and help the pass rush

Brace, Tate, the TE's.

Oh, and Connolly.

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also want to see more of the DBs, particulary Butler and Chung.

On defense, I want to see how the "surprise" guys in the front seven do for a second week. Warren, Murrell, and Spikes all looked pretty good, or at least had good moments that are encouraging in areas of need. I want to see if they continue that, or whether it was just a one week fluke.

Same deal on offense with Connolly, but I'd also like to see Tate get more involved. He had the one nice grab against the Saints, but I want to see him get a couple so we get a better idea what he can do.

On ST, I want to see more good returns out of McCourty and Edelman. Can't get enough of those.

For those like me that will be looking at the two lines, here's a look at the projected depth chart for Thursday's game against the Falcons courtesy of Mike Reiss from espnBoston:

LDE: Gerard Warren/Ron Brace/Kade Weston
NT: Vince Wilfork/Myron Pryor/Kyle Love
RDE: Mike Wright/Brandon Deaderick/Darryl Richard

Veteran Damione Lewis, a backup at left defensive end in the preseason opener, is not expected to play. The status of Pryor, who left Tuesday afternoon's practice with a hand injury, will also be important to monitor.

LT: Matt Light/Mark LeVoir/Brian Simmons
LG: Dan Connolly/Eric Ghiaciuc/Ted Larsen
C: Dan Koppen/Ryan Wendell
RG: Stephen Neal/Rich Ohrnberger
RT: Sebastian Vollmer/Thomas Welch

The interior backups -- Ghiaciuc, Larsen, Wendell and Ohrnenberger -- should rotate between left guard, center and right guard once entering the game.

Good stuff, thank you. I'd like to see Brace do well enough to earn some time with the 1's in week 3. I like Mike Wright, but feel he's much more effective as a sub-package pass rushing lineman. I feel like Brace has the build to be a better run stuffer.

Warren, Tate, BJGE, Chung and Brace (if he plays)

Wilfork if he moved to DE, but that move is truly ridiculous.

You have a top 5 NT and youve just paid him as such. His body is suited for the middle with the extra weight Wilfork is carrying. Plus, you just created a hole at NT since no other NE player can play the position as good as VW.

I will be watching Ron Brace seize the day

Very true, but I wouldn't mind seeing more fumble and INT returns myself. :D

Brace is going to lose himself in the music, etc.

I'll be watching the trainers. Hopefully they won't get any work tomorrow.

The 2nd and 4th preseason games are fairly useless (which is why the 18 game regular season is going to happen). I don't expect to really learn anything new tomorrow. I'm glad they are holding back folks (Bodden, Cunningham, etc.) and hopefully getting them ready for PS #3...where you want to get a feel for real game planning, situational groupings and more realistic play calling.

Since Burgess wasn't there for the Saints, it will be nice seeing him out there for at least a few snaps.

It's all about Ninkovich, also Murrel, Dane Fletcher, Pryor, Brace, Warren.

But mostly Ninkovich. He has to prove he's not a nincompoop and I think he can do it in spades. I think he already has.:rocker:
