Asante Samuel hurt again

He's been in and out of camp this season. Also under some scrutiny. Last week I read a tweet where the coaches were goading him asking if he wanted some smaller targets to try and tackle...

I hope his injury heals quickly.

Yeah, looks like he has hamstring issues. All in all, if you're going to have a repeat injury, hamstring isn't a bad one to have.

BTW—could you imagine Asante Samuel trying to make an open field tackle on Julian Edelman? :)

The obsession with Asante Samuel is getting annoying. He had more picks than both of the Pats starting CB's combined. Get over it.

We are sorry, we were only trying to have fun!

Agreed- he was a good player, someone else was willing to pay him more than the Pats were. Unlike, say, Logan Mankins, he was actually willing to be reasonable any play out his final year so that he could make it to FA. I've got no ill will towards him, and don't get why others can't get over it too.

Logan did play out his final year.

He's refusing to sign his RFA tender, whereas Samuel agreed to sign his franchise tag, contingent on not being tagged again.

I'm sure that, if the Patriots had offered the franchise value to Mankins, and promised him that they wouldn't tag him the next season, Mankins would be in camp.

And not signing his tender is not the same as not playing out his contract. He played out his deal and got screwed over by the CBA situation. The Patriots did not have to take advantage of the CBA situation, but chose to do so. Why should Mankins exercising his rights under those same circumstances be looked at in a negative light?

And I as a fan would have been pissed at the Pats for letting a 7 million dollar asset walk out the door with nothing in return.

I got a laugh a few weeks ago when Bruschi backed Mankins in his "negotiating" with the Pats. When the CBA was voted on the last time it was up - wasn't Bruschi one of the "Players" that voted to tuck it to the new draft picks with the clause that has caught Mankins. But did Bruschi appologize to Mankins for his vote - NO he chose to blame the team.

Way to man up Teddy.

I don't think Asante cares. He got paid.

Ha

Reminds me of Seinfeld when Kramer was karate champion vs little kids.

He reminds me of another famous ex-pat who had to "feed his family". :bricks:

To be fair, there's a massive difference between a franchise tender and an RFA tender. No way would Asante have signed for RFA money.
