I can't see how he just jumps in with the ones, but that's the report from the walkthrough today. Maybe he'll get a look there in Atlanta.

Re: Ron Brace at LDE or walkthrough

Brace, Warren, Smith, the hot dog vendor, any cheerleader with a low center of gravity and big thighs.....

At this point, every option should be explored.

Maybe they should bring in Rosie O'Donnell for a look...

If he is going to be active, he should get a crash course with the 1s to bring him up to speed.

Am I right in remembering there were high hopes for this guy last year? It's all a little fuzzy, but I thought he was likeliest to be a backup at NT. Vinsurance or what-have-you.

Good news. Brace is back. With the loss of Warren, there is room and opportunity. Can he seize it?

What everyone forgets is that most NTs are three year projects before they are productive. Only the super stars, do it by the end of their first season.

I was neither high or down on him.
I thought it was a good move to bring a young run stopping DL in given the age and contract status of our DLman.
Personally, I think its hard to miss on ability on a player like this because the skillset is so narrowly defined. I think its easy to miss on makeup, commitment, and the difference between being a college player who is phyically better than the opponent and doesnt have to work too hard, and the hard work it takes at the NFL level for EVERYONE.
Provding that last year was an adjustment and not a sign he just doesnt have the makeup to take the step up to the NFL, I think he would be a good option on first down and part of the rotation. We will soon find out though if that knock out factor exists.

Haven't been following the D-Line threads, etc. Where would Brace play as a starter?

I'm assuming he passed the physical other wise i'd like to know how he jumped from not practicing to the first unit.

Jabba The Hutt? But I suppose he would be a NT!

Anyone know if eating a player is 'unsportsmanlike conduct'? :)

He's a nose tackle project, he wouldn't have been drafted so high otherwise.

However, there is a need where he can help right now. They certainly are covered at NT for the present with Big Vince.

Probably less drudgery at end too, might help get his head in the game. Sure can't hurt, we have few options.

DE. I doubt he will be a 'starter', but he could be in the mix for playing time, esp on 1st down.
BB has always said that the techniques are all the same lining up across from the C,G or T. I imagine ideally we would prefer a quicker guy at DE for pass rush purposes, but run D-wise, they are pretty interchangable as we have seen over the years.

Re: Ron Brace at LDE or walkthrough

Unidentified player was an OL.
Great. Mankins reported and changed his number.

isnt brace to slow to be a DE

Re: Ron Brace at LDE or walkthrough

65=Burgess???????? 55 is taken.

Burgess was #53 last year once Seau rejoined the team. I would imagine that he keeps that # this year. #65 was an unknown Olineman in the article.
