Holley just said on EEI that he heard that Ty got some bad news yesterday and could be (probably) out for the year. He made no mention of his source, but an interesting enough rumor to discuss here.

if this is true, i'd imagine this would kill our super bowl chances. how did you even get injured? i thought he was getting his degree over the summer and missing TC......

Damn! From Reiss a couple days ago.
Warren is the most recent concern, the potential severity of his situation coming to light from, of all people, coach Bill Belichick.

Usually not one to reveal injury details, Belichick said Warren's injury -- reportedly a hip problem -- needs further evaluation. Belichick put the team's other injured players in the day-to-day category, so his comments on Warren, who has missed the past 12 full-pads practices, made it seem the team fears something serious.

If this is true than this is bad news. I think we could still be ok but that would really thin out any kind of depth and force a few guys to really step it up in the coming weeks.

Boy, you fight to the end, eh?

no i know, but the ravens last year were specifically targeting running at seymour's old spot. now we have potential weaknesses at both DE positions. i don't think mike wright is going to cut it as a starter..

Re: Holley: Ty Warren out for the year

First, good we got both G Warren and Lewis.

Second, we've got a lot of big bodies in camp. Who wants to be a star?

Third, we do have many different talented LBs to play different fronts if we want to mix it up more. (Never had 4-3 OLBs before, now we have a bunch).

Damn the bad luck

Perhaps NE can snag someone as rosters cut down unless one of our own DEs step up.

This sucks, but we were warned.
======================

Warren, Wilfork, and Wright are our starters, with Lewis being part of the rotation.

I guess Pryor is our #5 and might compete with Lewis for reps.
=====================

And, yes this is very good news for Pryor. As of an hour ago, I thought that he was fighting for a roster spot.

We had an attitude breakdown with AD and other problems. We lost Brady one year and played pretty well. One lineman with a whole year to adjust will not eliminate us from anything.

Even thinking about the super bowl after the first exhibition game is pretty nonsensical. It's a long ride.

Nonsensical yes. But still, I'm always thinking about it:)

If G. Warren plays like he did last night, we will need Wright to step up and make sure no-one notices!

At least the drafted Brace in the second last year ....

This is exactly right and last night was a good example. Did anyone really notice Ty wasn't playing? I feel bad for any injured player, but in reality, all we want is some one that can occupy a blocker or two to let our LBs run free.

Aside from one play, the Ravens ran for 3.0 yards per carry in that game.
We did not lose because of the run D. We lost because of an ineffective offense and defending short fields.
Whoever they targetted they had one long run then a mediocre day rushing the ball.
Look, its terrible news that Warren is out, but trashing Mike Wright who played more snaps that any other DL on the roster last year for inaccurate reasons isn't necessary.
IF this is true we lost a starter, Warren and a backup, Green, from last year and replaced them with Warren and Lewis. That certainly may not be improvement but it certainly doesn't prevent us from winning football games.

That sucks, but lets not foget, other players get paid and other players can play. You never know what you have in a back up until they have to play when it matters.
