I just rubbed a little sand in my wounds by reading about how my pet RB, 6th rounder Deji Karim, is creating a lot of buzz in Jaguars camp.

And all the breathless reports of Koa Misi in Miami and Brandon Graham in Philadelpha have to set some teeth gritting around here, too (though neither was really available to the Pats, the way the draft shook out. You can't get 'em all.) A few other players I followed closely, like Austen Lane and Carlos Dunlap, have been struggling with injuries.

Any other news?

I definitely feel your pain. Karim was my favorite mid-late round running back in the whole draft. I think we shared a few hopeful posts about drafting him. What's up with the Jags taking small school running backs I like? Last year I was begging for us to take Jennings (fwiw, I also wanted Edelman, and was quite pleased with that selection).

Dexter McCluster has been the star of the KC training camp, from all the reports I've read. I wish him well, and I can't really find a spot for him on our roster, but I sure wish we could have brought him in.

Greg Hardy was another guy I really liked. I read and watched a few interviews with him, and he seems like the kind of person who needs to find some sort of value in what he's doing--otherwise, what's the point? He's highly intelligent, and capable of playing tremendously well, but he's not a good little soldier like the typical Patriot. Still, I think he's phenomenally talented, and word is that the Panthers are quite happy with his progress, work ethic, and performance.

More when I can handle the emotions of misplaced binkies. :p

It turns out that Golden Tate is a petty thief/marketing wiz in the Pacific Northwest.

Joe Webb is actually transitioning back to QB in Minnesota and might actually play there this year if you-know-who actually retires.

Arrelious Benn has been overshadowed by Mike Williams, who appears to have his head on right.

Taylor Price is looking pretty good in Foxboro.

Emmanuel Sanders is turning heads in Pittsburgh with some outstanding displays in camp, Antonio Brown is also going down a storm there.

Scott Long has been waived by the 49ers (make the call Bill!)

As has Bryan Anderson by the Pats.

Marcus Easley has suffered a severe injury and is out indefinitely after having surgery.

Mike Williams is showing glimpses of the undoubted potential he's always had.

Mardy Gilyard looks to have nailed down a starting berth in St. Louis already.

Andre Roberts hasn't yet turned in to the new T.O (production-wise that is).......

If I went through all my binkies, I'd be here all day.

A fair number of us were hoping the Pats would reunite Edelperson with his roomie Jameson Konz. . . .

Konz apparently suffered some sort of hip injury, and is on IR after clearing waivers.

Mt. Cody flunked his conditioning test. Who didn't see that coming.

However I would still trade all of our second rounders for that kid. With Warren out and Seymour gone, we could have converted to a 2 - 5 - 4 defense with Wilfork and Cody, over 700 pounds of immovable fat clogging up all the inside running lanes tighter than rush hour traffic on Atlanta's I 85.

Very sad. Missed opportunity!

Looks like OG Mike Iupati will be starting for San Fransisco.

From what I've read he is raw and needs to learn technique, which didn't develop in college because of his ability to simply overpower defenders.

Hindsight is 20/20, but he'd look pretty good in a pats uniform to me right now.

Iupati, Davis to start as rookies

Hardy had 2 sacks tonight for Carolina.

Mike Williams is being talked up as the No.1 WR for Tampa.

Bulaga has been said to be off to a good start.

Benn supposedly struggling a little in his first camp.

Bulaga has had to move to guard because he's so damn stiff and slow off the snap...I'd call that a bad result for a first-round LT prospect.

I always do better with the guys I pick to disappoint than the ones I pick out to be stars.

The bad
-OLB Ricky Sapp: Heard he may get cut in Philly (worth a practice squad/53-man shot with Pats?). If he stinks, its probably because of my yearly obsession with finding BB's prototypical pass rusher, health/production be damned.
-ILB Donald Butler: Out for year w/ knee(?) in San Diego.

My attempt at finding Terrel Davis
-RB James Starks: Read somewhere he had a chance to get some 3rd down reps this year for Green Bay. Not bad for a 6th rd pick

The Pats
-Devin McCourty: Special teams demon, very solid to above average CB, just like I thought.
-Aaron Hernandez: Playing like the high 2nd grade I thought he deserved.
-QB Zac Robinson: Has not looked too good for the Pats so far.

The Good
RB Jahvid Best: Looks electric for DET so far, and is slated to get 15-20 touches a game, per Adam Schefter.

Unknowns
-Anyone heard anything out of 5-techniques Linval Joseph (NYG) and Alex Carrington (BUF)? I haven't heard anything good or bad, but in hindsight we maybe could've used one with the injury to T.Warren (Not that I would change anything about our draft right now, given how promising all of the top 6 picks look.)
-WR Blair White-UDFA signed with Colts. Any updates on him?

Just watched Karim deliver a great kick off return for 40+ yards. He looks so quick and explosive--a Faulk clone, for sure.

Hardy with 2 sacks last night. I don't know whether to cheer for him (so far he's had an exceptional camp and is proving his doubters wrong), or just feel sad that we couldn't find a way to add him in the 5th or 6th.

What was BB thinking? How could he let this kid slip past us????????

I thought he was going to be a Patriot even though it made no sense to some. I know they had signed Wilfork to the long term but I really thought Cody would of given us a dynamic front that would of been very hard to run against. Not to mention depth, we were an injury away from going from very good to ok. Turns out with the Warren injury it would of been a good move. Whatever, it is over and done with and we got a pretty good player with McCourty and some more draft picks.

It does bother me a little with Baltimore having those 2 huge guys clogging the middle. I keep wondering if anyone will be able to run up the gut on those 2? Or will the center and guards be strong enough to keep them out of the QB's face?

I forgot all the guys I was following. The RB for SF they got from Ms. state, he's one of my binkies, I guess.

Mt. Cody won't do anything. Too fat.

Anyone know if Toby Gerhart is having a good camp?

Keep looking. Starks hasn't been able to get on the field yet with an injury -- ankle, I believe. Some undrafted unknown has been impressing in his stead. Quinn Porter out of Stillman....whose name I didn't hear once tossed around by anybody during draft season. As it stands now, Starks is in a battle to make the roster.
