Pats are in a good position depth wise with all these youngsters.

Did Cunningham play? Didn't notice #96 ....If so, what unit was he in with...starters or 2nd unit...

Tate is going to be a nice complement to Moss......Edelman or Wes in slot....
Edelman, Tate and McCourty returning kicks/punts.....

Connelly pulled nicely on BJGE TD to block Vilma I believe....

Brandon Spikes, who was projected as a first round pick in 2009, may turn out to be the steal of the entire draft. And, is it possible that he could be defensive rookie of the year?

jays52 called it a few months ago, and I can def. see where he was coming from.

Haven't seen Jays52 around lately, now that you mention him...

Up: Edelman, Spikes, McCourty

Down: McGowan, Wilhite, T. Larsen

Larsen?

You judge a guy on 1 pre season game?

Chung Mesko Warren Murrell Fletcher up as well.

Butler down.

Maroney an enigma. At least to me. :D

Butler will probably still be the opening day starter on one side, but his stock dropped tremendously tonight in my eyes. He did not look like he took that giant leap that we all were hoping for. With that said, however, it was preseason game 1. Let's hope he gets better quick.

Wilhite had some GREAT plays. I don't know what game YOU were watching.

I don't think it's really a judgment of the guy, just noting those who didn't play as well as they should have.

And he is a borderline guy, playing badly could do lots of harm to his chances of making the PS let alone the final 53.

In the game I watched, Wilhite hurt his chances of making the team, Wheatley helped his and Arrington needed someone to explain the difference between "hit" and "tackle" to him.

But that's just a one-time run through during live action.

Connolly did OK pass blocking, not so well run blocking, although he did pull to the right well on a couple of power plays, not so much straight ahead. Mankins will be missed running to the left. Right side run blocking much improved with Vollmer, Neal and Gronk. All in all, they didn't suck.

Hey, I saw that game too! :) Arrington does bounce off ballcarriers very hard.

Honestly I have never been sold on Butler as a top guy, and the McCourty pick always made sense to me, at least after I investigated what MCCourty was all about.

Not saying Butler is not talented but just has room to improve.

Up - McCourty, Edelman, Spikes, Murrell, Hoyer, O-Line, Return teams, Chung, LoMo

Down - McGowan+Sanders on that major league whiff, Kickoff team

Up + Down -
Hernandez, dropped one but then showed some solid blocking and caught 3
BJGE, ran hard but missed some large secondary openings
Punt team, Mesko was fine but tackling was ugly bad at times
Wheatley, likely to be cut but he hit everything that moved - led in tackles
D-Line, good at the beginning then up and down the rest of the way, meh

Anyone else think BJGE's days are numbered? I think the RB depth chart from bottom to top is the exact reverse of the depth chart. 1.) Taylor 2.) Maroney 3.) Faulk 4.) Morris 5.) BJGE

I'll agree with that. It's all subjective depending upon your biases. Nothing wrong with that, and it's only game one of the pre-season. I'm more happy that we got to see a number of players, and no one got any serious injuries.

Respects,

Personally I think Wheatley has gotten a bad rap due to some injury/confidence problems. Its nice to see him playing well.

Works if you're on the three yard line.:)

The BJGE haters only allow stats when it supports their argument.

I don't know if he'll make the final 53, but I do like watching him give it his all.

Wilhite???? He made two good plays... Something he did not do all year. He's a nickel corner and will fill that need for us

Ups - Connelly, Chung, spikes and Warren

Downs - butler on the pass int call and losing the angle on Bush.

Wows- Julian and mcourty on the returns

I'll give Butler a pass....he had to move over from LCB to RCB......not as easy as you might think.

I was watching the lineman......Stephen Neal is a beast...sustains his block 5 yds downfield.

Gerard Warren got great penetration and he had to switch over to LDE......Mike Wright is going to be a problem if he has to play RDE.....got handled easily by the LT.

Pryor, also had trouble at nose.....got pushed into the EZ by the center....not a double team, either.

Mayo had some trouble because the guard kept getting to him...mostly when Pryor was at NT.

OL depth doesn't look so bad.

UP:
Rich Ohrnberger: Impressive, could take over LG by midseason.
George Bussey: He may now be our third tackle.

Down:
Mark LeVoir: Very inconsistent tonight. He's now on the bubble.
Ted Larsen: Human turnstile.
