Anyone watch?
Two things stuck out about ol' Rexy: 1) No coach on this show has ever been more aware of the cameras, and 2) He doesn't know many of the new players, often having to ask, "Who's number 48?" or "Who's that guy?"
Plus, he's hilarious. Often when he doesn't mean to be. If you need a reminder of how lucky NE is to have Coach Belichick, check it out.

It was entertaining. Rex looks like a fun guy to have a beer with. BUT, he's definitely creating lots of bulletin board material with his rants about how the Jet's "have the best team" in the league.

entertaining ****:lol2:

I'll definitely be watching more. Just makes me wish they did Hard Knocks for New England, it really shows you what some of the guys are like. Rex Ryan is hilarious too.

I hope they never do it for New England...frankly I don't want them on that show unless it is playing against the team featured.

Agreed. New England doesn't need that sort of cheap publicity. I mean, it's the frikkin' JESTS, fer cryin' out loud....... :D

No, that is how Ryan always is, it's why Bart Scott mentioned in one of the interviews about who he would want to go into an alley with, Rex Ryan.

Please don't be naive to think Rex is a phony, because that is the exactly OPPOSITE of what he is. He's genuine, he has a loose cannon, but he's confident in what he does, and that is how he is, a FAR cry from the tightwad mumbles you have roaming the sideline.

Thing is, more than 90% of the fans that kill Rex, would KILL to have HIM as their team's head coach.

Do you think Rex gets his players to play as hard as they do for him, because he is a phony who likes a camera?

C'mon dude, I know you're a Jets hater, but be honest.

You make it seem the Jets sought out Hard Knocks, when in fact it was the Jets that turned them down last year, only to have HBO come knocking and pleading back at their doors before this off-season.

Funny stuff. Rex seems like a fun guy. He's so much like his Dad. Definitely the type of guy you want to be around when things are going well, but clearly is too emotional to be a top head coach in my opinion (I think we saw that last year - regarding his clock management for instance). He's good for the league but I would be absolutely petrified if he was my team's coach.

This is why he is a great coordinator but a terrible head coach...he needs someone to shut him up, knock some sense into him, keep him focused, keep him from going overboard: he needs a head coach, not to be a head coach.

Ryan's players are inclined to play hard for him, and he knows his Xs and Os on at least one side of the ball. That puts him ahead of many coaches.

But it doesn't yet put him even with Payton, let alone BB.

Rex Ryan definitely delivered on the entertainment side. That guy really "lives his gimmick," as they say.

I had never seen much of Tannenbaum before and I wasn't that impressed with him. Clearly, he's got some brains and talent if he's been able to keep his job for this long, but I thought he came across as kind of meathead.

Well contrary to what some people will have you think, Tannenbaum is a .500 GM. That seems about right in line with his abilities.

As far as the "lives his gimmick", I agree. Ryan would be a great guy to hang out with but I can't imagine people turning to a guy like that when you're in a crisis. Hell, he fell apart and prematurely declared the season over last year after a loss to the Falcons.

Sexy Rexy is a likable enough guy, but the ****iness of this team is laughable. Talk smack after you win the bowl, you jokers. A team this arrogant has zero chance of winning it all. It will be enjoyable watching them lose.

rex is a funny dude he made the jets a better team and he is likable Eric Mangini, was a real douche

His clock management?

He took his team to the AFC Championship as a rookie head coach, that's quite a feat, and the best you can come up with to criticize him is his "clock management?"

Ryan is an overconfident, obnoxious bore who is completely in love with himself. The kind of coach who just can't ever get enough of the sound of his own voice. But that's nothing new with him and he makes no bones about it. In some ways, it's easier to tolerate people who just come out and admit they're kind of a ****y prick, which he more or less has.

They remind me a little bit of his dad's Eagle teams of the late 80s. And a little bit of Jerry Glanville's late 80s/early 90s Oilers and Falcons teams.

Really good teams that never could get over the hump because of the massive egos and general lack of discipline. I'd say Rex's Fighting Mullets are probably okay on the discipline side, but anyone who watched that show tonight could see the potential for some massive ego issues in the locker room. LT alone is a mushroom cloud waiting to happen.

I'll be glad when the season starts and everyone becomes fully annoyed with their act. I'm shocked at some of the Rex love on this thread. They are the ******* enemy, after all.

...and PS, this was the most boring episode of this show I have seen. This is not a very likable team.

looking at Wrecksie's manboobs makes me think they should have named the show HARD KNOCKERS....
