Is that Belichick will be going out there with a very vanilla game plan.....not going to show anybody much......going to put a few guys in some certain situations and see how they perform to pare down the roster a bit more.......but it will be very boring, simple, and very frustrating to the "Pats fan" as we think that things look like we have no creativity whatsoever and that the team is not that good. Preseason doesn't really prove much.....and Belichick does not tip his hand one iota so that the opposing coaches on this years schedule will have little tape to work with come "game time". I have to remind myself of that every year......life is different when you have the greatest coaching mind in the history of the game at the helm........I have to remind myself of this same approach when the NFL draft comes up.....and we are just begging for that sexy pick to be taken by BB and the Pats.....and instead he goes with a big corn fed kid out of western tennessee that no one had on their draft board!!! Enjoy the game....sanely......and GO PATS!!!!!!

What you say is true but if they lose it will be the end, they'll never win another game again ...Ever. ;)

I usually do not make it past the first quarter... the content coupled with the announcers Criqui and the other dude from San Francisco are very boring...

Wish they would at least have Gil and Gino doing the game...

i agree there is no game plane for a preseason game i want to see the line of scrimmage how the pats big men do vs the other team

Does anybody know where online where you can watch the game live, without having to pay nfl network for their package.

Thank you and much appreciated.

I think if I hear the word 'vanilla' again WRT the pre-season I'm going to throw up.

There is only so much you can get out of preseason game. Every year there is a team that goes 4-0 and everyone hypes because of it and they go something like 6-10. Many times at least one of the Super Bowl participants are .500 or worse in the preseason. All you can look for is really is people standing out for good or bad and individual match ups. Most of what we will see may or may not have any bearing on the regular season.

100% true, but it will be the first rain on my dried-up, withered appetite for PATS FOOTBALL!

BTW, just saw this morning that it will be on NFLN... made my week.

Best example possible...2008 Detroit Lions.

Excellent points. Preseason games are only there to help coaches make their minds up about players and put people in the closest thing they'll get to real games. They're no real indicator of how any team will do in the regular season.

Good point. The Colts are only 20-18 in the preseason, from 2001-2009 (they played a couple of 5 game preseasons).

This shows how relatively spoiled we've been, and what a changing-of-the-guard we're seeing. I think most of us will watch the games longer this year.

In the past decade, the Patriots have always had tons of veterans returning to the team after very successful seasons, so there hasn't been a lot of new-guy buzz. Just some curiosity over guys like Bam Childress and Terrence Nunn, and short-lived excitement over Chad Jackson and Sean Crable. This year, it seems like a lot of the guys who we hope will write a big part the next chapter of the Patriots success story will be on the field for a lot of time in pre-season games.

Yeah... I know, but I've been in this football drought for awhile now, even had to feed my jones with some Arena Football and CFL games. Sigh.

Now I get to see the Patriots play. Might be preseason, prolly means nothing, really, except for the jobs on the line. I don't care.

Pro Football. NFL Pre-Season. Homerville! Warm up to the bog show!

GO PATS!

With all the rookies and year two players, I think this could be very interesting.

I ALWAYS thrive on the later quarters. A chance to see binkys thrive and see guys play before their Walmart careers. Seriously, I love watching the fringe players. Remember, Troy Brown was one once. Several times.

Well, I mute it and listen to 98.5. Gil and Gino have both lost a bit I think but I grew up listening to them when our home games were blacked out in the early 90s. Their voices forever mean Patriots to me.

I really couldn't care any less about preseason period. I just want nobody to get hurt. They can go 4-0 or 0-4. The entire team can look like crap or they can look like the '89 niners in their playoff dominance. Doesn't make a diff to me, just come out of their with the important guys healthy.

If we don't win......... we suck and it's gonna be another 4-12 season.... Oh wait.

Best example possible...2008 Detroit Lions.

If there were a Preseason Super Bowl... the Lions would be strong contenders to it every preseason.

To me the thing I like the most about the preseason is getting to see the new players in action for the first time. Even if the games aren't the best to watch its exciting to see a glimpse at the potential new stars on the team.

Plus besides... its Patriots football. What more can you ask for? :D

I agree with you on the injury aspect. I slightly disagree with you about how the team looks. Don't get me wrong, I don't think preseason is a true indicator of anything, but I do still want to see the rookies playing hard and performing well.
