Ok, try this again without the political reference.

Apparently, since he has egg on his face with the Brady situation, he is now trying to create a controversy with Welker. From his latest column:

“I think he’s crazy,” one friend who plays for another NFL team says of Welker. “He wants a new deal, and the Patriots have [second-year wideout] Julian Edelman lined up as his replacement. If I were Wes, I wouldn’t even consider coming back until October.”

Does Silver have to scour the league to find a "friend" to give him a quote to say something negative about the Pats? If this was a puff piece about the return about a WR from another team, would he include a negative quote like this? Seriously, the guy has it in for the Pats. Clearly this guy has an agenda.

My favorite part of that article is still the part where he stopped just short of referencing Moss' dog-faking.

I said it before and i'll say it again.....Its getting or has gotten to the point that these guys just make this up as they go along.

Disconnect!

Christ. What an awful excuse for an article.

Apperently every player with 1-3 years left on tehre deal wants a new one and should hold out.

Seriously when has anyone ever even remotely said Welker wants a new deal. Brady i get it's his last year but welker has 2 years left.

I hate the media

You know what? I don't doubt Welker wants a new deal. I think every player in the NFL who has outplayed their current deal wants a new deal. Now there is a difference between wanting a new deal and expecting a new deal or demanding a new deal.

I doubt Welker rushed back because he fears for his job or that he won't get a new deal. His return despite reports is not that much quicker than a lot of WRs with ACL tears.

BTW, who is this "friend"? I don't know if any of my friends would call me out like this in the media by implying I am only coming back so quickly because I am concerned about my job security or a new contract. My guess it is one of the many disgruntled former Patriots who said that who may not have even spoken to Welker since the injury if there is a source at all.

the "friend" is the new "unnamed source"

I'm looking for the story about the sand pit training at Texas Tech. Whoever told it said that every single player would eventually puke, and Wes was no exception. The difference was that Wes would just turn his head and puke while he kept running.

Anyway, that's why Wes rehabbed so hard: he's the right kind of psycho.

I saw that he was at Foxboro today and knew that something irresponsible was coming of this trip.

My kind of Psycho.

Silver has been historically anti Patriot, pro Brady. The way he consistantly ripped the Pats after Brady went down, you would have thought the Pats went 1-15 .

The content of the interview really doesn't matter to me. The fact that Silver got the one-on-one interview after the "disconnect" article is far more interesting, in light of there having been so many people bashing Silver for that. If Silver had been just making that story up, why is Brady giving him this interview?

I think Brady is a politician. He plays nice to just about everybody. Even in the wake of Lie-Gate, Brady still gave interviews to people who doubted and bashed him.

I don't know if Silver made up the story. Never accused him of that. I just think he blew the story out of proportion and twisted Kraft's quotes to suit his own puposes. Brady wouldn't be upset about it because the story put more pressure on the Patriots to work to get a deal done. So he benefitted from it.
