it's a sad time in my life.

Re: OT - profootballfocus

PFF was the most misleading and generally bad football stat site on the net anyways. There are much, much better resources out there.

Re: OT - profootballfocus

Perhaps they are hiring professionals so they can put out a good product?

They want $90 a year. But don't worry, you can get a free subscription:

And for those who are both really broke and really into it, join our team! We’ve got vacancies left for numerous team correspondents, and as long as they commit to doing one game of player participation a week, we’ll give them a free subscription. You can get more details of what’s involved here … and contact us about joining up here.

PFF Site Upgrade: Jonathan Comey interviews Neil Hornsby

They're going to farm out the work and charge the regular schmucks 90 bucks for it.

From what I can see of their rankings, they aren't worth the money when they were free. Stats in football except for a few positions are not really a great way to measure players especially the o-line.

Worth the money. Best scouting service available to the public.

The participation stats were nice to have access to though.

This is hilarious. Do they think they'll get even 1/10 as many hits if people have to pay $90 for it?

There are a lot of stupid people out there.

From their perspective, 10% of the audience paying $90, plus some free members doing their grunt work for them, is much better than 10x the audience paying nothing. Hahaha, either way, though, I'm glad because hopefully this means people will stop trying to use PFF as a source.

Hey the website that said David Garrard and Joe Flacco had better seasons than Tom Brady.

And also said Kelley Washington had a better season than Randy Moss.

Sweet.

That is like saying they are the thinest person at a fat farm. From what I have seen, their scouting service sucks but just not as bad as all the crap out there. They have Damian Woody ranked as a top 5 tackle in the league last year. Enough said about their rankings. Even by their own admissions, they are wrong up to 20% of the time.

It's not just the folks paying 90 bucks who are the schmucks, it's the ones agreeing to write 20+ articles for 90 bucks. :nooo:

From the site's perspective, though, a paid subscription model is probably the way to go. A hardcore football stats site is a relative narrow niche, and unless they have awesome salespeople with the chutzpah to convince, say, a major fantasy football provider to sign on for a special sponsorship, their ad rates are probably abysmal. If they can convert even 1% of their readership to paying subscribers they'll come out ahead.

Fixed it for you.

Also probably worth noting that PFF isn't, and never claimed to be, a scouting service.
