Former #Steelers starting OG Darnell Stapleton is 100% healthy n in great shape, ready for an opp. Will pass #NFL conditioning tests

Sounds like his agent making a public sale, but still... might be worth a looksee?

Can't for the life of me read that twitter gobbledygook. Try this.

Darnell Stapleton, a starting guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII, is healthy and ready to return to the NFL.

His agent, Ed Wasielewski, reported that Stapleton is 100 percent back from his knee injury that cost him last season, and that he will pass NFL conditioning tests. Stapleton reportedly worked out for the New England Patriots earlier this week.

Of course teams haven't even started making serious cuts yet.

The FO will consider every veteran guard available and make calls with regard to anyone they think might be available in trade. That is their job.

I think we know that. Should we just never discuss free agents evermore? ;)

Technically, we shouldn't discuss anything anymore. The FO is on it.

lol - ya. Guess I'll just hand in my membership card. :D

I honestly don't know anything about this guy. I did find that he was undrafted and became a started with the Steelers in 2008 due to injury to Kendall Simmons. Also, looks like he was a center and played guard out of necessity that year. I agree that we need someone at guard, unless Mankins returns soon, but I don't know if this guy will do much better than Connolly or Wendell coming back from such an injury and being out of football for a year. I guess the Pats though he was worth a look at least.

For better or worse, we signed him.

Anybody watch a good amount of Steeler football in 2008? How did he look before the injury?

Stapleton started at center, and tackle at Hudson Valley Community College for two seasons. He became the starting center at Rutgers in 2005.[1] In his senior year, Darnell was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy as top collegiate center.[2]
