Fred Taylor in Jeopardy?

We need to give Maroney one last try to be "the guy" IMO, Morris is a solid backup, BJGE an acceptable emergency guy with Faulk in his role. Taylor probably leaves in favor of a 6th WR or DB.

It wouldn't surprise me if he were cut. Fred missed a lot of time last year and it seems like he can never avoid getting hurt. It sure would be nice if he could regain his 2007 form though.

Given the age and fragility of the running backs, I'd be worried to see them reduce the numbers. If Taylor is cut, that's either a very good sign (they're more confident than I would have expected in what they have) or a very bad one (Taylor can't even hold a place against pretty weak competition).

I did not see anything amiss about Fred Taylor at TC. By virtue of that, he should be making the roster with no problem.

I didn't think he looked bad either but generally I find RB one of the hardest positions to judge in camp because other position offer more of a one on one matchup but without tackling the RB is tough to tell.

When healthy.

Morris hasnt made it through a full season yet as a NEP.

Maroney as the "Guy" makes me worried.

Its like putting Fredo in charge of the Corleone family.

Agree with one exception. I was @ Smithfield Curtis Martin's rookie summer. It was clear that he was a real keeper. Fast, quick, elusive and you could tell the coaches and players were impressed.

The standout rooks I saw at their 1st camps were Curtis, Drew Bledsoe, Ty Law and The Twig. Daniel Graham was absolutely awfull in his 1st camp. In Brady's second (2001 summer) camp, he was the star.

certainly guys will stand out at any position.

I find it mind boggling that with all the picks we've had in the last 3 years, we failed to draft a single RB with any of them. We'll take a guy like Ron Brace in the 2nd round, but not a young RB. Mind boggling.

I think we are gonna see alot of all the RB's in the preseaon. I cant wait to see them in action to make my own assesments.

And if they picked a 2nd round RB that busted, everyone would be *****ing that they didn't use the enough picks on the defensive line.

True but with Maroney and the very mediocre BJGE we don't need Morris to make it through the season. In my world he would get about 5 carries a game until/unless Maroney got hurt and if they both got hurt BJGE would still be there too.

Tells you an awful lot about a) how valuable Belichick thinks RBs are, and/or b) how he feels about our current RBs.

For the last couple of years, RB has been far from the biggest hole on our roster.

Yeah, we'd probably be pretty much the first and only 'great' team in NFL history that actually devalues RBs. Equally mind boggling.

Re: Fred Taylor ON Jeopardy?

Fred will be fine as long as he answers in the form of a question.

You cant think like that. You cant be afraid of failure. I mean Im talking about 3 straight drafts of not taking a single player at the position.

But, if Laurence Maroney is the best youve got, you'd think drafting another young, talented back wouldnt be such a bad idea. Wait, did I just say another?

The fact is, we're sitting on 3 30something year old backs and Laurence Maroney. And it might just be good enough. Who knows? Id just love for once for this team's backs to be better than good enough. Brady's approaching late career John Elway status. And its time we found him his Terrell Davis.

1.) Brady had Dillon

2.) Brady went 18-1 with Maroney and Morris, even without Taylor and BJGE.

3.) If you think RB has been the problem with this team over the past 2 seasons, you haven't been paying attention.

1) Maroney, Faulk and Morris are all set, with the understanding that Morris is likely to mise some time. Clearly the #4 running back is likely to get a significant number of reps/

2) I suspect that Taylor is fine. Whether he makes the team has little to do with perceived success in TC.

3) I agree that Taylor COULD be beaten out for the 4th RB roster spot by Green-Ellis or a free agent.

4) There is no need for a #5 RB, certainly not Green-Ellis who didn't een get much action when two running backs were down for part of 2009 (2 carries a game when he was active). If we think that we "need" a 5th rb, then call Edelman the 5th rb. He could get as many yards this year as Green-Ellis did in 2009.

MY BOTTOM LINE

If Belichick judges that Taylor has nothing left in the tank, then we will pick up a veteran free agent before Game Two.
