Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey has long been considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. But Bailey says he has to admit that he's not the best in the league. Darrelle Revis is.

"I was reluctant to give it to anybody because I thought I was the best," Bailey said when asked about Revis on 104.3 the Fan. "But I've got to give it to him. He's better than anyone right now."

Revis is currently holding out of the Jets' training camp in a contract dispute, and Bailey doesn't blame him.

"If I was making what he's making, I'd probably do the same thing," Bailey said.

Bailey raved about Revis as a superior player to Nnamdi Asomugha and the heir apparent to Deion Sanders as the league's one truly elite shutdown corner.

"I was fortunate enough to play with Deion Sanders," Bailey said. "As a great corner you want to see who's next. They tried to give it to Nnamdi, and I really wasn't sold on it. But I was watching Revis when he played Brandon Marshall a couple years ago, and I was like, 'This kid can play.' Ty Law came up to me, he was on the team, and he said, 'This kid is the real deal.' And that's when I really started watching him, and he is the real deal."

I can't imagine this will help the Jets in bargaining, and will only feed Revis' absolutely massive ego. Get ready for a long holdout.

Clutching at straws are we?

I think everybody agrees that Revis is the best corner in the league. I don't think that Champ Bailey coming out saying it makes any difference to any contract negotiations that are going on.

His ego is pretty big, he lists himself as the best corner in league on his twitter page.

Hopefully he can back up his claim year to year.

Having a career year last season is going to put alot of pressure on....that and that fact that he's holding out for big $$$$$.

Could be the recipe for a big letdown. (That's assuming he comes to terms with Jets on a new contract).

He deserves the money id say despite the ego issues, but in my opinion he is still second in the league to Nnamdi, maybe im crazy, but thats how i feel...

I don't care if Revis is the best CB in the league, or even the second. He doesn't deserve the kind of money he's asking for.

HBO execs just had A Big O

i wonder why he didnt want to give it to asomogha....

on another note, is the whole leage in the same plot to keep revis away from the jets? HA HA

I agree with what was said earlier. I realize Revis deserves his, but it's selfish to expect to be on an elite super bowl contender while a freaking CB is making more than a QB. I feel for them to day Sanchez wants an extension (if he lasts long enough)

I just find it laughable that players, with all their freaking greed thinks it's possible for this guy and that guy to be the highest paid on the team AND have a balanced roster? That just doesn't happen.

Champ's right- Revis is the best CB in the NFL by a not-insignificant margin. But Asomugha wasn't worth $15M per, and Revis isn't either. No CB is. If Revis wants his $15M per, he'll just have to wait for an even crappier, dumber, and more desperate team than the Raiders to come along (i.e., he shouldn't hold his breath).

Man, it's kinda funny how badly Al Davis screwed the Jets by being a crazy old man.

he deserves double the best CB contract ever.

Wow, that's big coming from the guy who has been considered the best for the better part of a decade now.
