I can't imagine this will help the Jets in bargaining, and will only feed Revis' absolutely massive ego. Get ready for a long holdout.
Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey has long been considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. But Bailey says he has to admit that he's not the best in the league. Darrelle Revis is.
"I was reluctant to give it to anybody because I thought I was the best," Bailey said when asked about Revis on 104.3 the Fan. "But I've got to give it to him. He's better than anyone right now."
Revis is currently holding out of the Jets' training camp in a contract dispute, and Bailey doesn't blame him.
"If I was making what he's making, I'd probably do the same thing," Bailey said.
Bailey raved about Revis as a superior player to Nnamdi Asomugha and the heir apparent to Deion Sanders as the league's one truly elite shutdown corner.
"I was fortunate enough to play with Deion Sanders," Bailey said. "As a great corner you want to see who's next. They tried to give it to Nnamdi, and I really wasn't sold on it. But I was watching Revis when he played Brandon Marshall a couple years ago, and I was like, 'This kid can play.' Ty Law came up to me, he was on the team, and he said, 'This kid is the real deal.' And that's when I really started watching him, and he is the real deal."
